Computerandvideogames.com are reporting a demo (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=143688) will be released shortly for Dead Rising.
An arrival date for the demo has yet to be confirmed, but a spokesperson for Capcom's Euro arm informed us this morning that news on that should be released shortly - like within the next 48 hours.
This is perhaps my most anticipated title for the 360 right now. Hell, I am far more excited by this game then Saints Row and GoW combined! The 8th cant get here fast enough, but it looks like the demo might make the wait more tolerable!

It will be sweet if the demo is out before the 8th, but if it isn't I don't mind. It's only a week out so there isn't much of a wait anymore.

Saints Row demo today, SF2 tomorrow, so I figure IF it comes out this week it will be Thursday or Friday. At the end of the latest video it says the demo is Coming Soon so I won't hold my breath.

I share your enthusiasm Serapth, this is the first Xbox 360 game that made me want the system. Then the week right after is 99 Nights, but I wonder why there wasn't a Dead Rising Demo before that game?

I really appreciate when a demo is released before or at the same time the game is released.
I dislike waiting months to play the demo of a game available on shelves.

Kickass. One of the best things MS has done with the 360 is restore the demo to its rightful prominence. It was dark days for a while there as the demo faded from the PC scene and console demos required the purchase of a vile mag.
Saints Row, 99 Nights, Dead Rising...all within a few days of each other. Beautiful.

"Telephone"...that game of telling one person something and then passing it on to where, by the end of the line, it's completely different from when it started.
You said they report that a demo will be out in the next 48 hours, when actually they said NEWS OF a demo would be out in 48 hours.

Yeah, I don't see this happening seeing as how I just read an interview with the producer where he says he doesn't yet know which part of the game they'll put into a demo. I don't think the demo is coming before the game actually releases, but I guess we'll see soon enough.

Who knows why companies release demos when they do. Some teams obviously see a demo as a higher priority than others do. Look at Lost Planet, the demo for that came out a while ago and that game is still FAR off.

Shit, I totally misread what I, well... read.
Well fuck, that totally sucks. I was almost jizzingly happy to get my hands on an early demo and 48 hours made so much sense ( aka, launch wednesdays ). Hopefully the announcement of the demo is "The demo is available NOW!"

I pre-ordered it the other day and I NEVER pre-order anything. I'm pretty excited. Did you guys see the mall panphlet they're handing out at the game stores as a promotion? Not a big deal but it looks like an authentic panphlet for a mall...other than the big blood spots on the cover...neat idea.

I wonder if this is one of those games that will appeal to Japanese gamers.
God knows it seems to appeal to Europeans and Americans! :) Only thing that could make me more excited would be if G Romero was executive producer. Then again... Evil Dead... Shopping Mall... sound familar to anyone?

I would love to check out the demo before I pick up the full game in a week, but I have heard on a few podcasts (can't remember which one), that the likelyhood of a demo is somewhat slim, since they would have to close off the open ended environments, and that would give a false impression of the game, and a different experience from what the game is really like.
If a demo does drop, then I will be playing it like crazy to hone my Zombie - mutilating skills, though

Because if it came out on PC, the new levels they release would be free.
Because if it came out on PC, there might be cool mods.
Because if it came out on PC, we could play it at 1920x1200(or higher)
Because if it came out on PC, we could have 64 player multiplayer(or higher)
Because if it came out on PC, we could have dedicated servers
Because if it came out on PC, we'd have a control device that allows instant precise aiming instead of Steer and Pray(tm) analog sticks.
I can't think of a console game that was ever ported to PC and turned out better, though, but doesn't mean it couldn't happen. I can think of lots of PC games ported to console that turned out much worse.
Did survival horror start with Alone in the Dark on PC, or with Resident Evil on Playstation?

Not really. There is no multiplayer in the game to begin with and wouldn't be on PC, either. However, that's never stopped the community from making multiplayer mods. Still, I'd like a multiplayer game to consist of 1 person as Frank and 63 other people as Zombies. As a Zombie you move slow - very slow - but have the advantage of numbers and coordination with the others.
Could be something really cool there.

Alone in the Dark 1992
Resident Evil 1996
But the true origon appears to be Sweet Home (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweet_Home_(video_game)) in 1981. A game acknowledged as a source for Resident Evil.

Here we go with PC vs. Console again.
Holy christ. It's not coming out for PC. Whoodie damn doo.
There's games that come out for PC, and games that don't. There's even some that come out for console, and some that don't, and even some not for all consoles! *gasp*
Here's a list for you...
Because if it came out on PC, they'd still charge for new levels like Bethesda, but at least we'd get 100s of fan made ones, 99% of which are worthless, and the other 1% you really are tired of trying to find after the other crap you'd have to wade through
Because if it came out on PC, we'd have to wait 2 months for patches until it became playable
Because if it came out on PC, we'd have multiplayer added by a fan group, but it's buggy, and won't be fixed for another 3 months for THAT to be fixed
Because if it came out on PC, we'd be able to run it at 1920x1200 on a 21" screen, instead of 1920x1080i on a 51" screen.
Because if it came out on PC, we'd have to upgrade our drivers because only the new ForceWare 91.31 supports some new feature that Dead Rising is asked to use to push the extra polygon or two for more Zombie madness.
Because if it came out on PC, it'd be a nice experience cramming my friends into my bedroom to watch me use a mouse and keyboard, instead of just being able to switch off and play on the couch.
Because if it came out on PC, you wouldn't be able to once again revive the whole "PC vs Console" debate, and save us all the annoyance.

I've never understood this argument, personally. It's not that hard to find some fan site that's done all the wading for you and rated the user maps. Heck, games like UT2004 had automatic downloading, so just by playing you ended up with the most popular fan content. It's a simple lack of even a small effort.
I certainly hope consoles, and even portables, embrace fan made levels and content.
It's already happening, but very, very slowly.

What's especially funny about that is Lost Planet is by the same devteam as Dead Rising. They released a public demo for their second X360 game months before they even might release a Dead Rising demo. Bizarre!
And presumably they would make a Dead Rising demo exactly like the press demos they've done previously (and very similar to the Saints Row demo). Sure, blocking off large sections of the environment does misrepresent the gameplay a little, but a small taste is better than none.

meh... the demo give you an intro cutscene and then gives you one part of a case to solve, but then its impossible to accomplish just that part.
BUT if you leave the plaza ur in u get cool cutscenes.
i think its a par demo... not too much is expectred but a taste and i think it gives more then that... although ive played my saints row alot more then this one... which i didnt expect.
im still excited for dead rising tho.
