Takahashi Sensui, general manager for Xbox 360 Japan, has declared that the PlayStation 3 is "too expensive" - and that Microsoft's next-gen console offers a gaming experience that's just as good.
Speaking to the Mainichi Daily News, Sensui said: "Gaming is the essential role of Xbox 360 and the experience is in no way inferior to any other console."
He went on to confirm that Microsoft does not plan to cut the price of the Xbox 360 in Japan, despite the fact that the console has failed to take off in the territory - six months after launch, it was still lagging behind the Nintendo DS and PlayStation 2.Read more over at Games Industry.biz (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=18635).
I agree with him, nothing really differnt between the 2 consoles.

I would say its better because I know what Xbox Live is and how it makes my life a better and more fulfilling. All Sony has told me is that they are going to make something. And it will be cool.

Throw some more good Japanese X360 games out there and maybe you wouldn't need to bad-mouth the competition, motherfucker.

It's definitely time for a price drop in Japan. No need to worry about them seeming desperate, because they should be desperate. It's no secret to anybody including the Japanese consumer that the 360 has failed pretty miserably there so it's not like you save face by saying that you refuse to drop price.

Ummm, why is there even a "general manager for Xbox 360 Japan"??? Sounds like he should be looking for a new job.

I feel like they can't really say anything about the PS3 in Japan. At all. We all know it is expensive. Justified or not. But until you actually sell a lot of units and have many games that Japan is interested in, you can't badmouth the competition.

Yea, especially when you're barely selling 1,000 consoles a week. I mean that equates to roughly 40,000 a year. The PS3 may have a high price, but I'm willing to bet it sells more than 40,000 systems at launch in Japan.

So we're supposed to listen to the guy who can't get 360 off the ground in Japan? No thanks.

 Yeah dude, seriously, how low brow can you get?
Its Nippos , as in Niponese.
I'm sure nationalism plays some role in the distaste for the 360, but its also important to understand that the market there is vastly different from our own. Games like Halo and Grand Theft Auto just don't fly over there. They like 50 hour games were they assume the role of an androgynous main character with an absurdly large sword and battle a girly looking bad guy who want his mommy. But seriously, the Japanese market is a different animal, one Microsoft isn’t well suited to tame.
I just get upset towards Japan's extreme racism towards 'gaijin' consoles. It ain't like I'm wrong about this.
We could have exactly what they wanted and they would still refuse to buy it.

well gamecube didn't exactly sell well in japan, and it's a japanese console.
it's all about games that suits the market, which gamecube has a few, but obviously not even half as much as ps2.
what games are attractive to japanese on the 360? I would say maybe 2, dead of alive and ridge racer, which are definitely not enough to warrant a new expensive console at this point.

So you decide to sink to the level that you perceive them as being at? Rise above, Zeal - you're better than that.

If the xbox sucks so bad in Japan, why are there so many high ranking Japanese squads in Chromehounds?

Yes, the Japanese are indeed very racist and that's why they aren't interested in the 360. Just look at the iPod - a huge flop in Japan because Apple is an American company.

Is he really though? I'm of the opinion that Zeal isn't better than much of anything.
