Two positions at the German dev appeared recently:
Crytek - Network Programmer (MMOG) (http://www.edge-online.co.uk/archives/2006/07/crytek_network.php)
Crytek - Console Programmer - PS3 (http://www.edge-online.co.uk/archives/2006/07/crytek_console.php)Please note that they need not be linked!

I'm not too knowledgable on Crytek's stuff, so I'll leave this news to those who are. Your cue guys.

Yes. Those have been up there on Edge's site for a while now and PS3 programmer job has been up on Crytek's site for months. Interesting job openings (MMOG), nevertheless.

Does this mean that Crysis is coming to PS3? Nope. Crytek has other games in development and they have said several times that Crysis is for PC and PC only.

You forget, Crytek are not just a game developer. They also develop and license the CryEngine2. These positions are more than likely in support of actual engine development and/or technical support.

But then, why wouldn't they explore and plan releases on the 360 and PS3 after their a decent period of PC exclusivity for Crysis.

I'd be willing to bet that it is in the works for the 360 since 360 developers are, in essence, PC developers. Unique specialization isn't nearly as important as it will be for PS3 developers.

Can you imagine their engine used in an mmorpg? Damn...

uhhhhhhhhhhh

While I agree that developing for the PS3 is more specialized than for the 360, the 360 is still very different than developing for a PC.

If you want to try and stand up for the 360 everywhere you go, do it, but try and use more logical arguments. My suggestion would have been responding with something along the lines of:

"Considering that Crytek has supported the X-Box and 360 so far, I'd be willing to bet that whatever project they are hiring for is in development for the 360 as well."

And you can spatter in your fanboisms and irrational statements where you see fit, I don't need to help you with that.

XBOX 360 version of Far Cry was handled completely by Ubisoft from what I understand. Maybe they provided engine support, but I don't think they developed that game on 360.

I love when people call me one type of fanboy in one thread and another type of fanboy in another thread. Especially when coming from Sirias. That's rich. :D

I was about to say, I though Kamalot was a PC fanyboy if anything. :-P

You know what, it can't be that hard to type my handle. It's Siraris, not Sirias. I may give you shit, but I at least have the decency to spell your handle correctly. This is the third time I've seen you do it.

Pure speculation on my part:

EA partners Mythic up with Crytek. Mythic do the MMO design and Crytek does the tech.

Don't know if that's happening, but it would seem to fit.
