Over on YouTube.com (http://www.youtube.com) you can find a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yjL4A9Neug&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fgonintendo%2Ecom%2F) showcasing Star Fox Command for the Nintendo DS. The game will "feature more than 30 missions" and "multiplayer co-op and competitive game modes for up to four players on the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection or six players locally." (more info in the Wikipedia Article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Fox_Command)) The game will be released August 28, 2006.

Looks very smooth and fun.

I am hella excited for the DS lineup this fall. I only want one thing: I want to be able to play these kick ass DS games on the Wii on a big screen a la Gamecube's "Gameboy player." I don't see why it would be that hard. They already have the DS wirelessly compatible with the Wii. Why couldn't they just send the signal wirelessly. Let me play on the DS and use the touch screen and have it show up on the Wii screen as well. That would kick ass.

Maybe it wouldn't be possible wirelessly since there might be a signal delay between the input on the DS and the output of the video on the TV over a wireless connection, but hell, just make a cable like that GBA connector and sell it for extra. I don't really care how they do it, so long as they do. If they let me do that one thing--play DS through the Wii onto a big screen it would singly handedly trump every cool new thing coming out this far whether games or consoles.

That game looks awesome! Has anyone had a chance to have some hands on time with it yet? I am curious if it plays as well as it looks...

Sweet! I can't wait to get my hands on it. I wonder how it will feel using the stylus for the majority of the piloting....

Part of playing on the touch screen is that you are touching the same screen you are looking at. How would you play a touch-screen game while looking at your TV?

Don't waste your wishes on stuff like this. Instead, wish for a StarFox Wii game rather than the ability to play DS games on Wii. DS games belong on the DS and Wii games belong on Wii.

Besides, you know that the Wiimote just SCREAMS for a StarFox game.

Agreed. The Wii is screaming for a Starfox game. For the love of god Nintendo, please give us a normal Starfox game. Screw innovation. I loved The original snes and N64 versions and will be more than happy with MOTS.

While I'm really looking forward to this DS version I'm not happy that all the levels are 'all range mode'...

Well the thing is, I like 2D style games--alot. And you rarely if ever get them on consoles anymore. I like the DS, but I'd really like to play some of these great classic style games on a big screen. If you give me a Yoshi's Island sequel or a Castlevania game as 2D platformers on the Wii, then I'd shut up about connectivity. But until that point, at least let me play the portable games on a big screen.

It would be cool if the multiplayer was done in a campaign mode, where you had to try to take over territories by dog fighting for them.

Must you troll every goddamn thread you are in? Why can't you just go back to being vaguely racist so you can get banned?

Okay, you make some good points. I love me some 2D gaming but I consider the DS 2D gaming's home. Castlevania also has online play too. I'm a happy camper.

Part of it is probably my joy at discovering how awesome playing videogames is on a projector. Yesterday I completed hooking up all my old consoles to it. I now have 8 systems all available to play on it at a touch of a button via system selector: 360, PS2, Gamecube, Dreamcast, Xbox, Saturn, and N64. I even have the Dreamcast NES emulator with 500 games so I can play the entire NES library on the big screen. Last night I was playing some Guardian Heroes on it and it was a blast. I want new 2D games to play on my screen!

When I got my new projector, I hooked up my Dreamcast through the VGA connector and played Rez. In fact, when I got my sound system, I hooked up and played Rez. Rez is most fun when it is vision-encompasing and loud.

I was somewhat worried about this game, but having seen this video I am floored! I was so disappointed that we never got a true Star Fox game on the Gamecube. The first level of Assault was great, but the rest was so subpar. Star Fox 64 remains my favorite 64 game. This game seems to be channelling it heavily, which makes me happy. Now hopefully they get voice acting on par with the 64 version and not those horrible actors from Assault and this game will be perfect!

That looks like a goddamn proper Starfox game. I haven't seen one of those since... 1997?

I tried this out at Comicon and it played great. The controls are very tight and responsive. You are constantly going forward and you use the stylus to steer around. I just played a little but it started out with the map/strategy screen where you draw a line on the map that your fighter will follow. Your big carrier is in the middle of the map and enemy ships are moving towards it and you have to draw a line so that it intercepts the bogies. You only have a limited amount of ink so once you draw your 1 or 2 inch line then you go to battle mode where you fight the ships your line intercepted. Once that is done than you get to go to round two where you draw more line on the map and then fight whatever the line touches. You can also draw the line into cities and then take them over and use them to refuel your ship. It takes some strategy because you have to keep everything away from your carrier but you can only travel so far in each turn. So you have to make sure you don't wander too far away so that you can't get back in time to defend your base. And you have to watch your fuel. Their are a lot of other elements that I saw but didn't really grasp in my short playtime but it looks good.

Thanks for the info jacktion, it's good to see that there are more elements to worry about than just shooting everything you come across. Stuff like that should hopefully give the game a bit of depth! I'm definitely getting this one when it comes out, I've always been a Star Fox fan.

*cough splatter

Co-op multiplayer? I hope thats what I think it is... these details have a way of getting obscured into things they arent.

BTW, thanks jacktion for that info
