Gamebrink (http://www.gamebrink.com/) reviews the anime crossover fighter.

Its always been an anime fans dreams to see characters from the 3 most popular anime series to duke it out. And that dream comes answered with Battle Stadium D.O.N. The game mixes several top characters from DBZ, One Piece and Naruto and has them fight to the finish in a Super Smash Bros. Fashion. The game isnt even shameful about copying Super Smash Bros., except for the fact it is missing a few things that made SSB great and thats where it falls on its face.

Finally a game where I can test pirates against ninjas!

Having watched both One Piece and Naruto animes it's difficult to choose a favourite, but I'm going to side with Pirates. Nothing can beat Zoro, except perhaps Luffy, but with luck only.

"I'll cut your electricity in half!" -- Zoro is the true man of action instead of thinking.

And of course, DBZ characters are also a huge plus.

I find it surprising and a great testament to Nintendo just how far off every game like this has come from approaching the greatness that is smash brothers.

I've played a lot of these (they're always passed around at anime society meetings) and I think the biggest issue is always the controls. There's plenty of random crazy actions and cool super specials but without the refine and polish that smash brothers has you spend half the time flailing around always not QUITE doing the moves as you expect you would.

Yet it ruins the experience completely.

Jump superstars has been the most fun outside of Smash Brothers I've had with one of these recently, but even that is quite dumbed down in comparison. All the cool collection/deck building stuff adds a lot though, so it's not quite as straight a Smash Bros clone as most of the other ones in the genre.

How in the world do you balance something like that when DBZ characters reach power levels where they can destroy planets?

With a lot of practice and rabbit juice.

By having them charge up for 200 episodes while a sneaky pirate shanks him/her/it in the back!

It's effectively JUMP! Superstars for console minus obscure characters from anime you've never heard of. I doubt it would get a western release, seeing as how several people own the rights to the characters.

I hate to be a quality whore, but can we please stop linking sites that don't even bother to use punctuation in their reviews? I've seen plenty of poor writing on game websites, but Gamebrink looks like they yank their content from a low-tier forum.

Did Gamebrink test the entire game this time?

JSS had both Bleach and Yugi-Oh. I wouldn't call those obscure. Might import this one, as I had a lot of fun playing JSS.

Of course not Yu-Gi-Oh, but Bleach has yet to reach european shores. Hell, Naruto has only just made it.

That D.O.N. sucks is not a suprise, it's a liscensed game, most of them suck, which is why the Bleach fighter and Jump SuperStars were suprises, as they didn't suck.

The Naruto gamecube games are pretty good fighting games.

No more "Who would win in a fight?" conversations.

The Naruto gamecube games are pretty good fighting games.

They have awesome super specials that it's hard for any fan not to love, but the game mechanics are pretty damn shallow. There's less of an obvious distinction between button mashing and actually playing properly than in most fighters.

Still, fun for a four player rumble amongst fans.
