View Full Version : Weekend Gamer: What are you playing?

Another weekend, another chance to blow some things up in cyberspace. I have finished Spellforce 2 (writing review this weekend - but if you liked 1, you will enjoy 2), and am at a crossroads of what to play next. Budget being what it is (non-existent), it leads me back to the old standbys - CoH and well, I am not sure. I think I may tear apart my storage shed looking for Rome Total Warso I can play that or if I can't find it, then Medieval Total War. I also hope to listen to the Evil Avatar radio show if there is a broadcast tonight. What are you going to be playing this weekend?

Act of War: High Treason. I want to try out Spellforce 2....review near completion?

CoV trial (another one heh) and Amped 3, I'm playing CoV on the Freedom server.

A little Oblivion. Though I am playing less now since I have this vampirism curse. It really is a huge pain in the ass. I hate wandering around at night, and finding these soul gems is ridiculious. I found five but the witch demands 5 empty ones (which I only had two). Then I know there is a second part to the quest after that. It has really killed my motivation to keep playing the game. I may send it back soon.

Elsewhere I will be enjoying lots of Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles. Me and a friend are close to the game's end and we are just doing some final artifact hunting before heading off to the final level. We've had a blast with the game and I'm really, really looking forward to the new Wii and DS versions.

I think I am going to go out right now and pick up the Civ IV expansion, and rekindle my love affair with that game. Going to play a little bit of Dawn of War as well. I just got it not too long ago and can't believe I waited so long to get it. GREEN IS BEST!

After three long days of bar examage I finally broke down and bought several Xbox Live Arcade games after playing the demos since I got the machine. I'm playing Outpost Kaloki X, Frogger, Cloning Clyde, Smash TV, Joust, Marble Blast Ultra, and Geometry Wars and I'm having a blast.

Just started working on the review. I should have it posted next week early (my goal is Monday). I did enjoy it, there were a few really great maps that made the whole game, and, well, you will have to wait for the rest. I recommend the game if you like RTS games with a flair of RPG.

I got into the Half Life 2 single-player game last week after several weeks of game ennui. I bought the game when it came out because my son was really into Counterstrike at the time and all his friends were moving up to CS: Source. Never had the chance to play the game since he was always on CS.

Might pick up Titan Quest at Fry's now that it's down to $35.

Speaking of HL2, I just started playing Episode 1. My roomate got it free when he bought the 7900gt. But he bought two, so he got two free copies.

The game is pretty bad. I can't get myself to keep playing, it's just really boring.

I'll probably be playing lots of Oblivion. Made a custom character yesterday that does a little bit of everything (magic, combat, stealth) and she is working out pretty well. Hopefully she won't get too uber too fast like my Mage did. I'll also be MUCKing it up, as per the usual, and I'm considering building a new map for Furcadia. Need to find the right patches though.

Also, I just downloaded, converted to MP3, and properlly tagged The Relics of The Chozo (http://smproject.ocremix.org/) project from OC Remix (www.ocremix.org). It is quite awesome, and I highly recommend it to everyone.

With out a doubt, if you already enjoyed Civ IV. If you didn't like Civ IV (then you aren't a real gamer) then this won't change your mind or anything.

A game of Warlords is "strictly better" than a game with Vanilla. Slightly better AI, more variety in other Civs (6 new ones were added), the new Unique Buildings for each Civ makes a BIG difference in how they play, the concept of vassale states is very cool, and the great generals are incredibly fun to have in the game.

The scenarios are gettin much love from the reivewing press, though I haven't tried them, I'm just playing sandbox game after sandbox game. It's been brilliant.

I've recently gotten back into PGR3, so I'm gonna be playing that. Also, I'm gonna try to finally finish Half-Life 2 so I can start playing Episode 1. Might get a little Prey and a little NCAA 2007 in there as well.

I'm embarrased to say I had forgotten I picked NCAA '07 up last week, in my excitement to get Warlords, and I've only played a few games on it. It's really fun, and I'll make some time to play a few more games in Dynasty mode this weekend. Sheesh. I suck.

Awesome! I'll try and pick it up some time soon. I was heavily addicted to Civ IV for quite a while (particurally when I was still taking history courses) so it is good to hear that the expansion adds some more depth to the gameplay.

Magnetica is my new DS obsession...

That game makes my wrist hurt so badly... yet it is so addicting. Switching hands doesn't even help. But I'll be playing that this weekend, in 15-minute bursts, and I should be able to pay off my debt to Tom Nook on Sunday. Other than that, I just reinstalled Galactic Civilizations II.

I broke out the SNES and been playing some Super Mario All Stars and Link to the Past. Super Castlevania IV and Contra III have been getting some love too, Konami was so kick-ass in those days. Started a new game on Final Fantasy 3 (or 6), once I heard that theme song, it was chills down the spine.
Also been trying to get Leisure Suit Larry 7 to run, but having no luck. It either has completly garbled sounds, or just freezes the computer.
I been bit by the retro bug I guess...

Half Life: Opposing Forces
Team Fortress Classic
AND
Oblivion.

It's nice to have a week off.

I love Contra 3. I've beaten w/o dying before and can generally beat it w/o continuing these days.

I have a pile of games to finish:

Metroid Fusion
Trauma Center
Arc The Lad: Twilight of the Spirits
Castlevania DOS
Phoenix Wright

I'll be playing some tetris, Meteos, Mr. Driller and Mushihimesama in between.

I played the shit out of the original, but never got around to finishing the final extra dungeon, once I got back all my characters. Its a blast on Psp, pure 2D sprite based goodness.

I might dive back into Ace Detective again. i got bored by the second case, I should give it another shot.

I was really excited about this game, until I borrowed it from a friend. I got really bored by the second case as well, and haven't picked it back up in months. I love the style and art, but the gameplay just doesn't appeal to me.

I have been trying to work through my backlog of games (both current gen, and especially 360), but I keep on buying new games, and have yet to dent my que. I am trying to finish up a bunch, because my gaming calendar will be so damn full next month, with Dead Rising, Ninety Nine Nights, and Disgaea 2 all dropping in August.

But man, I can't wait to explode me some Penguins.

final fantasy II, I s'pect is what I am going to spend my weekend on. Maybe some Galaga! A little Prey, now that I finally got it working...damn launch bug. I had to run a subst command to map the install directory to a drive letter before it would work...good thing they gave me those pewter figurines....only way I got to play it for 2 weeks...other than the demo...and I couldn't do that again.

So yeah, FF2.

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon on my shiny month-old DS Lite. This is my first Castleroid, and it's probably the best GBA game I've ever played (not counting Super Mario Bros 3).

Definitely a little Paper Mario (N64). Maybe some Far Cry Instincts, Jade Empire, or PGR2 too.

Mostly the same ol', same ol'. I've been unable to get around to playing anything for a set time. I seem to tell myself I'll play this game, and I never seem to get to it unless I really force myself to. :(

I bought Darkwatch (vampire cowboy fights undead in a console FPS) purely on the concept and the fact that it was only $18 at the game store the other day, and I've quickly stopped playing it. All the normal console FPS problems with control, but mostly it's just that the art is so silly-looking (not creepy) but the story is suppossed to be serious. So I guess the problem is that I don't want to play the same old console FPS gameplay when it isn't accompanied by an amazing story or new features like our PC FPS games.

So, I'm playing more of my old standbys: Dance Dance Revolution, Counter-Strike:Source, and Team Fortress Classic. . . Oh, replaying Eternal Darkness too.

I went to a wedding last night, got drunk, picked up a chick, so I'll be playing "please don't be pregnant" all weekend.

I want to finish Circle of the Moon, play some more Kameo, and I don't know what else. Big stockpiles of games lately, and I'm up early this morning so I have the whole day ahead of me. It's like 90 outside, but it may be an indoor weekend...I don't know yet. I'm a bit hung over and sweating/heat is uncomfortable when nursing a sore noggin.

A little late this weekend, since I was playing the "Yard Work 2006" game. Now that I finished that up, I'm gonna give Ultimate Baseball Online (Sports MMORPG) a try. I'm almost trying to build the Ultimate DS library, so I'm playing the eBay sniping game. It's good fun.
