Gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com) is reporting that Ubisoft has announced stronger than expected financial results, thanks in most part to GRAW on PC and Xbox 360 and Heroes of Might & Magic V on PC.

You can read the full article here (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=10244).

International game publisher Ubisoft has announced its financial results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2006, during which the company reported a 62 percent gain in revenue over the same period during the previous year. The company noted that this increase to €70 million ($88 million) beat expectations of €60 million ($75 million) previously communicated.

Ubisoft indicated that 85 percent of its sales during the first quarter were attributed to titles released for the the PC and Xbox 360, including Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced WarFighter, with more than 570,000 units sold for both platforms, and Heroes of Might & Magic V for the PC, which sold through more than 350,000 units.
Who was it who said that PC gaming was dead and that it's impossible to make money from one format alone?

Ubisoft for the win. It's nice to it doing so well. It's one of the best developers in the business.

ubisoft has been kicking ass lateley, so it's no big surprise that they've remained profitable. They recieved quite a bit of good press when they dropped starforce, and they signed a deal not long ago to port some of Capcom's "AAA" console titles to PC.

Ubisoft is once again in my good books, ever since they dropped Starforce. And hey, HoMM5 is actually really decent - I'm pleasantly surprised.

Ummmm, so the PC and Xbox 360 are one format? And how many of those 570,000 units of GRAW are on the 360?

Eh, I'm personally not a big UbiSoft fan. It kind of irks me that they've abandoned a lot of their former PC support.

So is the site loading SUPER SLOW for anyone else??

The other big news in their report was that Splinter Cell DA was delayed till the end of October.

Hah, from the truncated feed title I thought this was going to be about about a new Ubisoft IP, "Stronger than Expected". Must be the OP's sticky-shift syndrome.

Yes, its brutally slow. I click a link, go away for a minute or two, and hope its loaded by the time I get back. Ive pretty much given up on posting here ( except this one ) until it gets quick again.

pardon my ignorance, but i'm really not sure what you mean by this. from recent memory the big titles from ubisoft were the Tom Clancey series and the Prince of Persia series, and Ubi has been soing a fine job on the PC versions of those in my eyes.

"The Xbox 360 and PC were particularly kind to Ubisoft. Between the two of them, the platforms accounted for 73 percent of the publisher's revenue in the first quarter. For the same stretch of time last year, the PC only made up 30 percent of the publisher's business, while the Xbox 360 had not yet been released."

Edit : I mean to say its prolly more than 30%.
