Outrun 2006, but yeah, it seems to be the wrong link. Try this one here (http://gaming.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=6300)

It looks ok, but the Caesar series just hasn't wow'ed me in some time.

well Caesar 3 was great. But then came all the other ones (Zeus, Pharoah, etc...) and were very meh.

Here's to hoping.

Seeing the reviews for CivCity: Rome this week has made me want to dig out Caesar 3 again. Nice to know they're working on a new version. I hope they don't go overboard with the 3D, though; I think games like this work better when they're constrained to a mostly isometric view. Extremely detailed and pretty 2D would make me just as happy as 3D would.

Indeed. I feel the same way. Most series that made the jump to 3D, only did it because for some reason the company feels it's expected. Give me SimTower, SimCity, Rollercoaster Tycoon, and CaesarII all in my old school isometric view. Need I mention Starcraft? ;) All great games, no fancy 3D.

I agree. But at this point we could add a few more pixels to those games. To tighten them up a lot more. It was kind of hard to actually make out a shape in Starcraft. Especially zerglings. If it wasn't for the cinematics... I would never have known what one really looked like.

I'm really looking forward to this game and love Caesar III. To echo the comments above though I'm far more interested in the quality of the animations on the people running round the cities and doing their jobs than I am on the quality of the 3d graphics.

Just as long as the combats a whole heap better.

Caeser 4. I hope this wil be good becaue Civcity Rome is bad, very bad. I have no idea why I expected so much from Firefly, I guess even Firaxis couldn't help save their suckyness. The graphics are horrible and ugly even at full detail, the interface is fubared, and there are many tiny little niggles in building that will drive you insane. I installed Impression's Zeus to sate my city building appetite while waiting for Civcity Rome to come out, and I still find that a 1998 game is still a much better crafted game than this 2006 piece of crap.
