4Color Rebellion (http://www.4colorrebellion.com/archives/2006/07/03/new-super-mario-bros-challenge-mode) found a new secret challenge mode in the New Super Mario Brothers for the Nintendo DS.Gamers who’ve already finished the game will be able to access this secret Challenge Mode by hitting Start in the world map and pushing the following combination of buttons during the Start Menu:

L R L R X X Y Y

Basically this puts the forced scroll back into the game making the player unable to backtrack. Still... it's more content in a sense. Groovey!

not to burst any bubbles, but this has been known for a little while now.

Well I didn't, which means I'm sure quite a few people didn't. So this is news to them.

Yes, not reporting something because someone else might have reported it previously elsewhere is sound journalistic practice. ;)

Yes, but you see its like the NYT getting an AP article that you read three weeks ago in your local newspaper. Except its on the internet, so people are more likely to react dickishly because its easier.

This is more like, someone had this out within a week of the games release.

First I heard about it. So you're not so cool. Same goes with every other poster that copied the first one....we get it, you're sooooo cool.

I didn't know about it, so the post was very useful for me. Much more useful than Strawberry Shortcake screenshots, for example. :)

wow, i didn't realize I was being dickish by stating that it wasn't NEW news....it's not like I was trying to discredit BAP with his post......people need to know these things!

but like I said, it's a cool feature! i've played through that game a couple times now, and it is definately still fun

gotta agree with the others, this is pretty old news (even the link is from July 3rd). You got my hopes up that another mode had been discovered, especially with the word "new" in the article title.

sorry if it sounded that way, but I wasn't trying to be "cool" or one-up anyone. maybe I should have said "before anyone attacks bapenguin with something like 'omg!!!!111!!!! u r dumb! this is old nuz!!!!11!!!1!11!!!!', this has been floating around for a while".

the Internet. gotta love how your posts upon it get taken the wrong way 9 times out of 10. I must remember to take a day or two to think about what I post before doing so, to avoid misunderstandings and such.

allow me to shrink back into lurker status and forget about replying to topics for a while.

EA usually goes to a higher standard than "Daily Gaming News.... For Those Who Missed It."

I used to think it was a matter of misunderstanding, these days I'm pretty well convinced people just want to misunderstand to pick a fight. They hear what they want and spin it to match their argument and/or pithy remark. I've done it, we all do... often without meaning to. Best thing you can do is either not post, or not play the game.

Post, but don't fall into the traps of replying and debating.
(Unless you feel like it. This is EA, after all.)

I just finally beat NSMB tonight actually (this story reminded me I only had 4 levels left to go). Definitely it was a fun game. I did enjoy noticing the "cheat" for Luigi in the background after the credits ended.
