Looks like someone has posted (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVpFyQ1j_p8) a low to medium quality version of the majority of the Company of Heroes opening cinematic.
It's spoilerific, but absolutely amazing. If you liked the Dawn of War intro video, you'll love this one.

Brutal....
I am not sure if I am liking all these "realistic" trailers for WW2 games. They sometimes are quite disturbing especially with a lot of real fighting on TV nowadays. I prefer the SF DoW ones....

Pretty sweet, but this has NOTHING on Dawn of War intro. That actually made the game even better.

I'm all for more realistic ww2 shooters, i'm fed up with the heroic potrail of war where you are the only one to survive a plane crash/ artillery fire.

Honestly, WW2 was all about the zerging. We threw man after man at defenses overwhelming them with manpower. It cost us a great deal of lives and it shouldn't be forgotten that WW2 was won by the soldier on the ground. Not the generals.

WW1 was zerging, WW2 at least had some thought put into where and how they zerged. Even then, you have to also thank the RAF for their valient defence of Britain against impossible odds, British Intelligence keeping the Germans completely confused the entire war and the sailors who tried their absolite best to protect the ocean supply lines from U-boat attacks while crippling the rest of the German navy.
And if you think seeing Monty in the middle of everything alongside the troops had no effect, you're a fool.

I shouldn't have said "on the ground" I didn't mean just grunts. But I'm not gonna argue about history here.

I was a bit disappointed that they decided to Omaha intro. That has already been done so many times that it isn't exciting anymore.

Yeah but I've never seen an Omaha intro where the invasion failed.

I will NEVER tire of playing GOOD ww2 games. I will enjoy killing nazis till the day i die.
as for the russians fronts, yeah, that was the ultimate zergfest, mostly because the generals and leadership of the country were complete idiots, not that they had much materials to work with anyways, other then a plentiful supply of human meat.
hate aside, this promises to be a great game. looks like they're not sugar coating shit for the clueless kids.

That goes without saying, I firmly believe that Russia is some sort of hell dimension that has leaked onto this planet, certainly within the last hundred years anyway.

IronGustav? Errr what game are you talking about? The Outfit's closer to GI Joe, Company of Heroes is closer to Saving Private Ryan.
Lunar Blue: This cut down version of the intro's missing quite a bit on the front of it, as well as a bit on the end of it. IMO, it's better than DoW's intro (but not by much).

DoWs intro will always have a special place in my heart for bringing to life the Space Marines in such a badass way.

I think that the DoW intro was much better.
I'm looking forward to this game though, I will never get sick of WWII games as i'm really interested in WWII..

DoW's intro captured the raw essence of 40k perfectly, I don't think it can ever be topped.

So who's gonna youtube the DoW intro?
Edit: Sneaky bastards already have it posted. Dawn of War takes this one easy.

Indeed. The casulty count on both sides at the battle of Stalingrad was insane:

It's not meant to be realistic. It's meant to be a fun game. They take some serious liberties. But that's ok, because there is way too many WW2 RTS/TBS out there.

i dont need to play the entire game to know its not realistic, just look at the pace of the battles, the uniforms, the movement of the tanks, etc

Yeah, it's hard for anything based on real history (however tenuously) to compare to seeing Space Marines chainsword through Orks. And a Dreadnought lay some smack down. And the brutal climb up the hill. Man, I love that movie.

It's not a war simulator, it's a game, however, it's not cartoony by any stretch of the imagination.

Except for the stupidly melodramatic shot at the end, that intro was basically Saving Private Ryan's Omaha Beach scene, reenacted in CGI.

And saving private Ryan's beach scene was a remake of the Big Red One. And the Big Read One was a remake of The Longest Day... which were ALL based on this lil thing called D-Day.
