I don't know what GUN you played, but the one I played through enough times to 1000-point it on XBox Live was fantastic, if a bit short. Also, on the insane difficulty it remains one of the hardest games I've ever beaten.

Not knocking the game. It's just that it's a PSP port.

Ah, I buy that. I'll recommend it to others, but after beating it 4 times, I'm not anywhere close to interested in playing it again.

If I have the choice to play GUN with a few extra features (but probably longer load times) for psp, or a nicer looking, 360 version, with Achievements, I will definately go 360.
Funny that the announcement of the coming Psp version makes me want to go play the old 360 version.

The 360 version was one of the better games I've played. I just wish they had of lived up to all that promise. As it's already been said, it's too damn short. Maybe Gun 2 :)

Man, I thought this game was pretty crappy. I am surprised to see the positive reaction from you guys.

What made it good? I still have mine in the shrink wrap.

It's hard to pin a finger on it exactly. Part of that is because I got the game at release, and I traded it in because as fun as it was, I knew I wouldn't replay it for a third time. I wouldn't go as far to say it's a stellar game. There where shortcomings. Some of the sidework didn't really feel "worth it". The gameplay isn't hugely deep. I enjoyed the story and the characters quite a bit. The gunplay was a lot of fun, the Quick Draw mechanic was just another version of bullet time, but I loved it anyway. I liked the semi-RPG aspects of it, and the voice acting was pretty good. The horse riding mechanics are great...the animations are really well done.
It doesn't have a lot of next-gen flair...the draw distances are cool, and sometimes riding through the land is striking, but it wasn't developed solely for the 360..just upscaled. That's one of the reasons I said Gun 2...This probably would've been a really great game if they had've focused on the 360 version. Neversoft made that mistake with American Wasteland as well, so I guess this is to be expected. Really, the story makes the game...I like a well told Western, and I'd say they did a damn good job. This was Neversoft's first shot at a non-skating game too, so I think some slipups are forgiveable.

Well, if it helps, I can tell you why I thought it was crappy. Imagine GTA with really bland back drops, tiny cities with a single street and maybe two buildings you can enter, and one car. Imagine if there was next to nothing to do except go on missions where you awkwardly shoot wave after wave of Indians with really limited weapon variety. Add on the fact that it takes 5-6 hours to beat and has no replay ability, and you have Gun.
It is not a horrible game, but I would definately say it is on the crappy end of mediocre.

I thought this game got panned in reviews and was generally considered pretty poor?

Actually I believe they made two spiderman games. Not the movie ones just two ones based off the comic book. I played the first one on the dreamcast and while not a great game it was enjoyable. I'm not absolutely sure neversoft made them, but I'm pretty sure....

THis crap is exactly why multiple consoles HURT consumers instead of helping them.
For those who have played though Gun and love it, they're going to have to spend MORE money to get the complete Gun experiance, and then have ot play through scenes they've played ad nauseum just to get to the new content.
For people who have never played Gun, this is the version to get because it has all the content, but it's on the PSP so it's clearly going to have the worst gameplay environment and graphics.
Nobody wins. Is this what gaming is supposed to be about?

I never got into GUN. It just didn't seem to live up to any of it's promise. To be fair, I never really played through it completely.

I thought Sony had in place a strict, "No Port" policy. What ever happened to that?
The PSP has, for all intents and purposes, all of the power of the PlayStation 2. That can be a good thing or a bad thing -- while the handheld system has the capabilities to play almost any type of game imaginable (except for, of course, games that rely on a ginchy touch screen for play), it also has the facilities to repurpose almost any console game a publisher may want to quickly cash in on. Fears of rampant porting and retreaded content are concerns apparently weighing in on Sony as well (sure, there are some stiffs in suits over at the corporate office, but you can't run a company without a good share of gamers), as we can confirm that the company is actively staying to its position against direct ports from PlayStation 2 to PSP.

I think the biggest point is, anyone who wanted to play this game already played it, or can get it from the discount bin at the game store. Picking it up for the PS2 is cheaper and h as better sound, graphics, controls and probably better load times.
This is shovelware.

[QUOTE=Kamalot]I thought Sony had in place a strict, "No Port" policy. What ever happened to that?
From what I understand, the Psp no port policy is why Psp versions always have some sort of extra content, or addition from the console original. This explains all the extra modes in Gun for psp, but Sony's policy does seem to be only on a case by case basis. From what I understand the Psp versions of Suikoden 1 and 2 have been long out in japan, but SCEA won't approve them for release here because they don't have enough original content.
Sony will let developers port broken or crappy ps2 games, but some games can't even be released because of the no port policy. Its the inconsistancy thats the biggest piss off.

I really enjoyed playing Gun on the XBOX... Getting it on the PSP would be tempting considering that the length now would be longer.

This is really lame. When I saw a new Gun game was coming to the PSP I was excited. Now I see it's the same game with a few extra missions. I think this is part of the reason that the PSP is having trouble. Playability wise and graphcPorts of games I already have doesn't inspire me to support a system...
