What's the deal with the so far unannounced Asian region versions of Table Tennis?

I woulda thought it'd be a popular title, I mean Asia are the crazy Ping Pong players, and Virtua Tennis does pretty well over there right?

Have you had the chance to try it already? If so, what's the verdict? I expect it plays like...eh...Galaga, but I guess there could be some twists.

Finally I can check this out and see if it's worth it to me (because I hear such varied opinions on the subject).

Galaga demo! Can someone let us know how the game plays today......you know, for all the working saps. :)

Also, are they the same "high-definition graphics" that we saw on Frogger? *cough*

Table Tennis owns, especially with a $40 price tag.

The graphics on the player models are so real, it's creepy.

I tried it and already unlocked three Achievements. It plays like Galaga. I was never that good at most of these arcade games (thank goodness for the Atari 2600, eh?), but it is still fun. A nice addition to my Arcade.

Who needs a Galaga demo?I'm pretty sure this announcement is for one demo (Table Tennis) and one full arcade game (Galaga), though I can see how the original quote made seem like both were demos.

Got Galaga this morning before going to work, played for 5 minutes, and it's been so far the best five minutes of my day.

I think he meant that you don't need the Galaga demo because you should just want the game.

Compared to work, isn't beating yourself on the head with a hammer for 5 minutes preferable?

I am so freakin stoked about Galaga, I played the shit out of that with my Dad when I was little (the only video game he could play with any profficiency) on one of those table type machines. Good times.

I will definately pick up Galaga, but I am not convinced about Table Tennis yet...maybe the demo will convince me.

Actually, there are demos for both. Any XBLA title comes with the demo/full at the same time.

When you die you need to make sure to continue from the last level. Just select it from the start screen. I have all but one and it only took about an hour and a half.

Ah great, so I'm punished from actually wanting to do well from the start (I just kept restarting from level 1). Knew I should have just continued.

I'm just not that good at the game. The odd firing rate really throws me off, and always has.
Certainly I plan on going back to it and working from the top to get a higher spot on the leaderboard. I was just concerned about getting the points, as I have just started my five day weekend gamerpoint collection marathon. I'm thinking I can probably get myself up to 23-24K by Monday.

Got it last night and played for an hour. It's excellent. The whole package looks great. The background is the same art from the sides of the machine, which looks great (I want it for a wallpaper), and the menus have some nice art as well. And of course the gameplay is spot on. The nice part is that the firing is very responsive. After a few games, I played better than I ever had in the game (I got to ~130 on the global leaderboard! I'm sure it will be like ~1000 by tonight).

This stuff is great. I love having this and Robotron. I'm looking forward to Pacman soon. Having a global high score list makes going for a high score so much more meaningful than just entering your initials in in-game.

I don't understand why they haven't released Galaxians instead, it is a better shooter. And the galaxians sprites are lovely.

I don't like the Galaga port... They just wasted so much of the screen with those huge boarders (the boarders take up close to half of the TV!). My NES version of Galaga didn't need those boarders, so I'm not sure why they included them here...

The 360 version is the same aspect ratio as the arcade version was. The arcade version had a monitor rotated 90 degrees. The NES version makes up for this by putting the scoreboard on the side. Since the 360 version is probably a full emulation of the ROM, the score is in the same place it is in the arcade version. I think the NES version also doesn't have as much distance between your ship and the alien ships flying above.

Personally, I prefer having the faithful rendition of the arcade version than a modified port.

Galaga was the easiest 200 points for me, EVER. Had all the achievements with about 1.5 hours of play time and that was only every other game because I was letting someone else play too.
