Team Xbox (http://www.teamxbox.com) is reporting that thrash metal legends Megadeth and Microsoft Game Studios have formed a partnership which will see Epic Games' mouth-watering Gears of War sponsoring Megadeth's upcoming fall tour.

You can read more about this partnership here (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/11418/Megadeth-Gears-of-War-Partnership-Confirms-Release-Date/).

...today, a partnership between Microsoft Game Studios and thrash metal band Megadeth indirectly reconfirms an October release date. A press release states:

Look for the tour--the brainchild of MEGADETH frontman DAVE MUSTAINE --to launch in the Northeast and to work its way through 25 major markets before wrapping in mid-October, with Xbox's "Gears of War" sponsoring the trek.

"We're totally jazzed about the partnership between Gigantour 2006 and our forthcoming Xbox 360 blockbuster, Gears of War ! Partnering a music extravaganza like GIGANTOUR with the launch of a mega-hit game like Gears of War captures the excitement around two awesome happenings for fans of music and video games!"
I would much rather have had Slayer or Meshuggah touring with Gears of War's backing, but I'll take this nonetheless.

I won't buy this game unless Cannabal Corpse joins this tour.

Well, looks like Gears of War is going to be painful to listen to while playing.

I wouldn't think it matters unless the artists' music was featured in the game. Right?

I wouldn't care if DragonForce has XBox stuff on tour as much as I would care that their music was in the game.

Supposedly Lamb of God is on the tour too. Count me in.

Dragonforce in video games would be phenomenal. Lots of games would benefit from having a soundtrack that badass.

Wow, the biggest company out there is sponsoring a Metal concert. This must be one of the most unmetal moments possible.

Since when was metal not about making money? I thought that was supposed to be punk rock :D

But yeah, the tour sounds pretty good....as long as I can bring my Guitar Hero and play along to Symphony of Destruction

I saw this was edited by bapenguin...but either you or bap have EXCELLENT taste in metal. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Or...if we were on the blabbermouth forums.

Been a long time since I saw MegaDave Mustaine in concert. It was around 5 years ago I think, at a Concrete Records benefit at Roseland. Be cool to see Megadeth again. Put Type O on the bill somewhere and I'll be in heaven.

Dude you're talking about Megadeth.. Come on.. They've been "un-metal" since the early 90s and I'm not even a metal fan..

In fact, you all have horrible taste in music. :)

I just saw the Gigantour last year with Dream Theater. Megadeth was just balls to the fucking wall. A cage full of (Marshall...I think) stacks. It was the loudest concert I can remember.

Why can't Microsoft team up with someone cool like Warrant, Twisted Sister or Poison.

I'm just so tired of people digging into the hulking corpse that was my childhood and dragging out some festering pile of ooze that resembled something I actually cared about.

By far, Gigantour is THE best tour. Last year they had some AMAZING bands, including Dream Theater and Anthrax. I rather go to that than that Ozzfest shit. Dragonforce disapointed me by joinin Ozzfest. Oh, and Megadeth is probably the only band that is still pretty metal and hasnt softened their shit up, like Metallica and other thrash kings from the 80s. Gigantour, here i come!

Ha. I used to think that way when I was a kid.

It is so cool when we grow out of that and can just take the music at face value. If I like it, I like it, I don't give a shit about why it was made, who made it, or what else they've done, are doing, plan on doing.

Back when I did care, it was pretty cool knowing Dave got kicked out of Metallica for partying too much, especially when Metallica went from metal to pop in disguise.

I had a chance to see Meshuggah last year in some crappy venue here. My god they were incredible.

As for Megadeth, I've always loved the guitar playing, but... Everything else no thanks. In my dreams we go back about 20 years, bring back Marty Friedman, and have James Hetfield singing.

No thanks, Hetfield lost his cool voice years ago too. He wants to "sing" now. It's impressive listening to their old stuff (pre-Black Album) and how much they fucking suck today. Lars barely keeps up on a 5-piece and Hammett is off somewhere getting hair plugs.

Atleast we have their old stuff, right? ;)

Now they're all recovering drug and alcohol addicts making films about their group therapy sessions. :)

Meshuggah is the most technically oriented jazz-metal, time oriented musicians around.

Absolutely sick.

When my cousin's bands tour was sponsored by the 360 in the spring none of the bands even got a 360 to play on their buses. Kind of slack on the part of MS if you ask me.

Strongly doubt Dave Mustaine won't get a 360.

The System Has Failed (Megadeth) was a great album. The new Slayer song I heard wasn't very good, hopefully the album as a whole is better. Meshuggah is just insane, love that shit.

I dont know if i wrote it wrong or u read it wrong, but DT was in Gigantour last year, not Ozzfest. I dont think DT would do something dumb like that.

IGN is reporting (http://egm.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3152404) that Epic's upcoming Xbox 360 title, Gears of War will be the official sponsor (via Microsoft) of Megadeth's upcoming Gigantour tour.

We're still confused about Gears of War's release date, but October continues to look likely, especially considering today's announcement that Microsoft's sealed a deal with metal band Megadeth to have Gears of War become the official sponsor for Gigantour.

Lamb Of God, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Overkill, Into Eternity, Sanctity, and The Smashup will also be appearing on the tour.

Ok, so including Megadeth there are six bands I like on this tour. DAMN this is sounding better all the time. I just worry that we're going to see a lot of half-hour sets. I want at least an hour of Opeth.

No clue who Sanctity or The Smashup are, though.
