What's the only thing better than a Dark Avatar? An EVIL AVATAR of course. Check out 3 new Screens (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15479) of the upcoming Galactic Civilizations 2 expansion from Stardock.

It's so awesome that two of the finest ever turn-based strategy games were released within months of each other (Civ IV and GalCivII) and now, within months again, we get expansions to both of those!

Although GalCiv 2 is a good game, it's a shame that Aliens don't exude the same personalities like in Master of Orion (especially the original MOO). When I play MOO as the Bird-like Alkari I am commanding a swift bird race since there's a boost in propulsion tech. Likewise Bulrathis are good in space and planet raiding, Sakkras ships hull are better than others, Klackons tend to bring numbers in their fleet and so on. In Galciv I don't have the same motivation to play other races because they're just good, evil and all stats.

Moo:Baa was awesome I do like GC2 a lot, anyway.
It's not like I have oodles of good space 4x games to pick.

I was playing GalCivII the other day and I thought to myself: this need multiplayer. Turn-based games usually have horrible multiplayer (I hate waiting for my turn). How to fix that?

Has anyone played Knights of Honor? It's... Well... The best way to describe it is "It's like Rome: Total War (or the total war series), but in real time". And it just works, real time in that game is amazing. It's sad that it doesn't have multiplayer either though...

But anyway, it'd work with GalCivII. You move a starship, you'll see it slowly move towards it's target, meanwhile you're building other things and seeing the progress bar slowly fill up. Too slow? speed up the game. Playing multiplayer? Just ask everyone else if you can speed up a little. It'd WORK!

I also think the aliens could have more than just a few generic phrases and some more unique play styles. But It's just a fun game with a lot of open ended goodness. Tho I admit the story hasn't pulled me in enough to play the campaign. I love this game. Even more than I do Civ 4.

I believe that Swords beta thingy Tycho was talking about awhile back is very much in that vein.
