That's right kiddies. According to IGN Movies (http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/720/720477p1.html), the Autobot head honcho will be voiced by none other than Peter Cullen!
A vocal "greeting" by Optimus Prime himself announced that voice actor Peter Cullen, who played the character in the popular 1980s cartoon TV series, will voice Optimus Prime in next summer's big budget movie version.
Autobots, Transform and PLEASE don't suck!

Heard this a few days ago (voice actor nut), be awesome if they brought back the other guys, like Michael Bell and so on.
I've been wondering as well, is this what Michael Bay needed, giant robots that blow shit up, is this the film(s) he was destined to make?

Michael Bay will screw this movie up like every other movie he's made. You need a geek auteur like Singer to make this movie even remotely good.

Zomg Bryan Singer! Only he can understand the nerd populace. And he's so dreamy, too.
Seriously, that guy is like the nerdcore's own personal Jesus these days. I mean, I liked X-Men 1-2 (and 3, as well [blasphemy?]) and Superman was good. But everyone is acting as if this guy can do no wrong and his piss is liquid gold. Michael Bay may seem to only direct the "good" bad action movies like the Rock and Bad Boys, but just because Bryan Singer has made a few good pictures out of your childhood favorite shows/comics doesn't mean he's the only who could do a good job with this.
I'm not saying Bay's Transformers will rock your socks off, but damn.. Some people need to stop humping Bryan Singer's leg and wait for some more solid evidence of what is being done with this IP. No offense to you in particular, it's just something I've noticed since the X3/Superman debates have fanboys flocking together to elevate Singer to god-hood.

Singer would do a good job with the license, whereas Michael Bay is sort of a hit or miss kind of director. The reason people like Singer, is because so far, he has not made a bad film. He's a godsend for comic book fans, because he doesn't fuck up every license he touches. Singer also has street cred because he made the Usual Suspects, which is one of the greatest freaking movies of all time. I had no idea until recently that he had made that movie, but that's just icing on the cake.
Call me a Singer fanboy, but he is one of those directors that will replace the famous ones of our time when they die out. I see him going down as one of the better directors of his time, and he's still relatively young and doesn't have too many credits to his name. He has done great things and he will continue to do better ones.
You seem to forget that Michael Bay can do incredible action sequences (and for the record, I loved The Island), but he sucks donkey balls at anything resembling a love story (vomit, IE Pearl Harbor).

Sorry that I find The Transformers rather "weak". I grew up in the 80s and in many ways, The Transformers and G.I. Joe (and M.A.S.K, He-Man and others) represented everything that was wrong with American animation at the time. While the rest of the world was enjoying Robotech, Star Blazers and whatnot, "The Galaxy Rangers" (best US made cartoon ever) was failing miserably here. The kids where consuming "The Transformers" and similar at a scary pace and there was no room for anything "more mature". Not to be unfair, the quality of the animation and production for the Transformers MOVIE was top notch, but the script was just miserable.
But, I was the only kid who hated the Transformers and wanted more Galaxy Rangers back then and I see no reason why it would be different now.

You seem to forget that Michael Bay can do incredible action sequences (and for the record, I loved The Island), but he sucks donkey balls at anything resembling a love story (vomit, IE Pearl Harbor).I agree completely with your analysis of Bay's work. He has made movies that have sucked in the past. I didn't like the Island as much as the over-the-top Bad Boys or the Rock that I mentioned, but I too hated Pearl Harbor (further fueled by my dislike of Ben Affleck). In any event, I'm not sure what to feel about this movie in particular, but I think it's unfair to dismiss anyone other than Singer as being a capable director for comic adaptations or anything from the 80's generation's childhoods.
Transformers may very well suck and flop under Bay's direction, but I was just venting my feelings about the Singer fanboys. I don't disagree that he's made good movies in the superhero/comic genre and I also enjoyed his work with the Usual Suspects. But I think everyone is giving him far too much credit so far. He hasn't really made enough movies for me to be able to say he's infallible to be sure.
Until he makes a bad movie, the talk is fine with me.
And I agree, Michael Bay could very well pull it off, but he could also suck it hard. Peter Jackson should do it.

Ah, the "too cool for school" kid.
While it's perfectly fine to not like something, what's with the huge amount of hate? Don't like it? Move along, nothing to see here. There's no reason to bash, just to bash.
Face it, whether this is the worse or best Transformer movie that it could be, it sucks to you. That's fine- but leave it to the people who have an actual interest to care about, and enjoy it.

Am I the only one then who thinks Singer is a really boring director. I mean every fight in X-men 1 and 2 were 1 on 1. I haven't seen Superman yet, so I can't criticise it, but he just seems to 'meh' to me. Provided people got the right actors and a half decent script, anyone could of made a decent X-men movie. Just give Wolverine all the screen time and make Cyclops look like a dick.
Anyway, awesome news.

Bryan Singer's movies have usually one really good action scene surrounded by immense amounts of boredom. X-men 2 had that ridiculously awesome opening scene that was not matched even by the dramatic ending of the film.
You can honestly say that none of Bay's movies even entertained you as popcorn flicks? Come on. It must suck to be that jaded.

I personally liked Bad Boys 1+2, and The Rock. Hell, The Rock ruled just to hear Sir Sean Connery say "Losers whine about thier best. Winners go home and fuck the prom queen."
Instant classic.
There were PARTS of Pearl Harbor I enjoyed, but the whole romance thing just drug it out too much and I really didn't care about that part at all. Armageddon too had some interesting parts, but again, just didn't grab me. Still haven't seen "The Island" although it's sitting on my DVD shelf in the other room.
And for god's sake, it's Transformers, not war and peace. An actiony director such as Bay might do a good enough job to make a fun popcorn summer flick.

I liked Rodimus Prime, he was no Optimus, but he was still good, although Judd Nelsons voice fit him far more then the guy that did the show following the movie. I absolutly loved that movie. This is exactly right. Have you guys gone back and watched the cartoon or movie lately? Are you BLIND? The old Transformers show and movie were hardly intellectual, stimulating drama. We're not talking about great film here. The TV show was basically a tool to sell toys, and the movie was just a way to introduce a new line of toys, which is why they killed off all the old ones.
Sure, many of our childhoods were spent playing with those toys, so there's a shitload of sentimental value there, but you need to stop fooling yourselves. If this new movie has any plot at all, it's already a step up from the old stuff.

Seriously, the Island pissed me off so bad. It started out Logan's Runnish good and then turned into some stupid half-assed action movie that couldn't be appreciated do to the complete lack of triyng to suspend my disbelief.

I miss you more than Michael Bay missed the mark,
When he made Pearl Harbor.
I miss you more then that movie missed the point,
And that’s an awful lot girl.
And now, now you've gone away,
And all I'm trying to say,
Is Pearl Harbor sucked and I miss you
I need you like Ben Affleck needs acting school,
He was terrible in that film.
I need you like Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part,
He's way better then Ben Affleck.
And now all I can think about is your smile,
And that shitty movie too,
Pearl Harbor sucked and I miss you
Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies.
I guess Pearl Harbor sucked,
Just a little bit more then I miss you.
Team America is possibly the greatest film ever made.
That said, as I've mentioned previously, this is a film about giant robots blowing shit up, then transforming into manly things like trucks and so on that crash through shit causing more explosions. The film has Michael Bay written all over it already, it's very possible he was meant to make this film.
