Next Generation (http://www.next-gen.biz) is reporting that Electronic Arts, ESPN, and ESPN.com are teaming up to bring Madden fans everywhere a 60-minute PPV special called "Inside Madden NFL 07".

You can read about what's included in the special and when it will air by clicking here (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3498&Itemid=2).

There is rarely a franchise big enough to warrant its own pay-per-view special, but EA thinks the upcoming Madden NFL 07 deserves some special coverage for the most serious fans of the series.

The 60-minute special, titled “Inside Madden NFL 07,“ will feature the game’s designers, as well as five top Madden players who will reveal player ratings, gaming tips and other behind-the-scenes goodies.

Top athletes will also make appearances, including the Atlanta Falcons' Warrick Dunn, Tennessee Titans’ Eddie George, Minnesota Vikings guard Steve Hutchinson, and St. Louis Rams running back Marshall Faulk.

The episode, airing August 4, will be available for $19.95 at ESPN.com or through pay-per-view service providers.
I guess Electronic Arts has to recoup the money they spent on the NFL and ESPN license somehow.

Ugh. I'm a monster fan of Madden, but this is just...why the hell would anyone pay 20 bucks to watch this? Maybe I just don't 'get' it, I don't know.

How much is it to watch the whole season of "real" American Football, I bet its not far of that price.

Seriously, $20 to watch a madden special that will probably be included on next year's collector's edition? The scary thing is knowing that they will probably make a mint off of it.

I'd love to see the part of the documentary where the developers are working 80 hours a week.

Did you know that Madden is actually only in production 8 or 9 months out of the year?

wow....I mean. Wow. While it's cool and all that Madden is big enough to warrant this....it's horrible that it doesn't in anyway affect the quality of the game. They could at least use it to improve it!

Couldn't they do this about a game that actually warrants it? Does anyone honestly give two shits about another feature in a game that gets released more often than I masturbate?

hmm, pay $20 to watch a video about a game that is double the price.

Hellllllllllll No.

Also, anyone who watches the video... is such a tool.

What? You have to be kidding. $20 for 1hr of watching guys talk about Madden and some playing of the game. Come on, get real. That's 1/3 the cost of the game.

The difference here being the Madden one is twenty bones, whereas the Halo one was free!

People don't want to spend an extra $5 on collectors editions of games that have more content than this. What makes them think $20 is reasonable?

Because while people may not want to spend that $5 extra for additional content on a game's limited edition (or whatever they call it), the same people so very often DO spend the extra cash. Then bitch and moan about it in their blogs or preferred gaming sites.

Fuck EA, but fuck the NFL most of all for whoring itself and in turn screwing the 2Kx fans out of a better football game.

Also, FUCK MS for not making ESPN NFL 2K5 backward compatible on 360.
