GamingNexus has posted an interview (http://www.gamingnexus.com/Default.aspx?Section=Article&I=1122) with Witcher chief designer Michal Madaj.

GamingNexus: Since the Witcher books have yet to reach the US, can you talk about the setting of the game and the background behind the world/character?

Michał Madej: The world of the Witcher is based on the novels and short stories of Andrzej Sapkowski, who created the world of fantasy following his own recipe – a very good one if we are to judge by his popularity in the countries where his works have been published. The phenomenon of the Witcher’s world is based on the fact that on the one hand it is classic fantasy writing with magic, different races, monsters and the like, but on the other hand a great number of elements existing in this world surprise us with their modern attitude and breeches of classic conventions. The most important of these is that there is no definite division of good and evil; just like in the real world, it all boils down to personal decisions and moral choices.

The Witcher was kind of a hidden gem at E3 this year, hopefully they can find a publisher soon.

Oh my. I'd heard of this game before, but never seen it. People should be checking out the screenshots in the article. It looks fan-fucking-tastic. Get this game a publisher!

I am a little worried about the english translation, as RPGs need really good dialoge.

Not to spoil too much for us, but I wished he'd given greater exposition on the lore of The Witcher's world, and hook me with some of that promised immersion. And, woooo, the artwork? Oblivion ain't got nothin' on The Witcher. Nothin'!

Ah well. He had me at "women's relaxed attitudes toward sex."

They've released most of their E3 videos on Gamer's hell, the one on the story is at http://www.gamershell.com/download_14280.shtml and you should be able to search and find the rest.
