Take this (http://www.digitimes.com/systems/a20060720PB201.html) for what you will, but when PS3 Production (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15207&highlight=production) info came out last week, nobody was supposed to know.Asustek Computer yesterday issued a stern warning to Taiwan's media about reports that it had begun shipments of PlayStation 3 game consoles to Sony. While declining to comment on the reports, Asustek warned of legal action against media for any incorrect reports that jeopardize its relationships with clients, according to a company statement posted on the Taiwan Stock Exchange's website.

With something that big, you can't expect people to keep quiet.

Loose lips sink ships.

The fact that it's big does not excuse it. There is no litmus test, where leaking confidential info is suddenly "ok" because of the sheer size of the matter at hand. I'm sure Asustek has a lot of money riding on this deal w/ Sony, and I don't blame them for being upset.

I will agree, though, that the more people involve, the higher chance that someone will leak info to the press. Still doesn't make it right or excusable, but at the very least more probable.

Probably not. If it's true there's nothing they can do legally, but they probably have to make threats to keep Sony happy so they just make an irrelevant statement.

This is China right. I thought they sternly warned people with bullets. . . not with the threat of legal action.

Um, this is Taiwan. You know, the non-communist island that was formed after the communist revolution. The one that makes like 99% of your electronics?

It takes like a 7th grade education to know that. You can't expect people around here to have that kind of BOOC LURNIN as they call it.

I don't understand why Sony would want to keep this hush hush. Wouldn't Sony want some positive exposure after all the hardware complication talk? I know there's an obvious reason here, I just can't seem to figure it out. help?

It points to breach of confidentiality on the part of Asustek. Whether Sony wants it known or not is their business- it's not Asustek's job- or right- to spill the beans.

This could have easily been bad news leaking out of Asustek. It sets a bad precedence that makes them look very bad from a business standpoint.

Yes, but we like our leakage, don't we? (as long as it's not anal leakage or colostomy related  ).

The story I read said Chinese newspapers and nothing about Taiwan, but thanks for flaming just for the sake of it.
