No, this isn't videogame related. It is, however, a demonstration of the awesome power of Evil Avatar and how it can be used for good.

Although I was born and raised in the UK, I have dual nationality due to my Australian father. I have had little contact with him over the years and have not seem him since I was a baby.

Yesterday I received an email notification of an EvAv private message. I clicked on the link without even reading who it was from. The message was from my father. He had searched for me on the internet and found that I was a regular poster here. He then used the site to get in touch with me. We've exchanged a couple of emails and have communicated more than we have done in my entire twenty three years.

None of this would have happened without this wonderful site, so I'd like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff and the motley crew of posters that make this place great.

Thanks guys, I owe you big.

Editor's Note: Awesome story! It's good to know we could help in that creepy stalker kind of way...that's what makes us Evil!

Sounds like a "movie of the week". Maybe EA should shop that around. Try the Lifetime network. They seem to run anything.

Yeah, sorry about those... on the bright side my parole officer tells me not to send anymore, so the volume you receive should go way down.

And people say the internets are only for porn and anonymously making a jackass out of yourself! Congratulations, that's a really sweet story.

That is pretty cool. I just hope that it didn't turn out that Kelegacy is your father.

That's so cool. I thought I was the only one who had a "life changing" moment here on EvAv. I truly sympathize with how you feel over that. I wish you and your father the best of luck.

Just to add to the thread:
I've had 2 life altering experiences on EvAv. Self realization through someone's help here on the forums, and the addition to a new incredible friend 6000 miles away. In fact, the benefits of being a part of this community are constantly changing my life, ftw. EvAv was indeed my destiny, and I wouldn't trade what it gave me for anything.

That's really, really great! Hope it all works out for the best. It's just too bad that whenever anything bad happens with the Internet or video games, it's blown way out of proportion by the news and anyone else in power. These are the great stories that should be focused on.

Congratulations, again, and I'm really happy to hear about this. :)

Not even a copy of Portal? Today? Hmmm....?

Seriously, that's fantastic. I wish my estranged father contacted me through the net, but I'm always on the computer so he can never use it.

Great post Evil! Thanks for sharing. It's a very long story, but my when I was in college my father became ill and tired to find me before he passed away. He died before something like this was available. I hadn't seen him since I was 2 years old. It might be hard for you to appreciate how special this is right now, or maybe you do. I hope so. Great story...

I'm glad to see you were reunited. Congrats. :)

Nice:) I have a similar story, kind of. A while back, there was a thread that went on for a long time about gay people or something and I admitted that I was gay in it. Somehow, one of my friends knew this screen name, googled it because apparently he wanted to see if he could find where I got this name from, found me on this site, decided to read all my posts, read that post, found out that I am gay, told my friends, and thus I was exposed to about 5 of my closest friends. But it all worked out alright, they're totally cool with it, and it's nice not having to lie or pretend anymore, and I can just be myself. So Evil avatar has also helped me! I suppose:P
