<span class="articleText">You certainly can't say that Platinum Games is focused on a certain genre: The studio's four previous releases couldn't be more different from each other. Up to now, we've had the score-based brawler Madworld (http://www.evilavatar.com/games/wii/madworld), the stylish action-game Bayonetta (http://www.evilavatar.com/games/xbox360/bayonetta), cover-based shooter Vanquish (http://www.evilavatar.com/games/xbox360/vanquish) and the complex SF-RPG Infinite Space (http://www.evilavatar.com/games/nintendods/infinite-space) on Nintendo DS. So it's not a big surprise, that the guys at Platinum again tread new gameplay-grounds with their newest title Anarchy Reigns (http://www.evilavatar.com/games/xbox360/anarchy-reigns) (or "Max Anarchy," as it is known in its' native Japan).
This time, producer Atsushi Inaba and director Masaki Yamanaka tackle the fighting-genre, although Anarchy Reigns has much less in common with Street Fighter (http://www.evilavatar.com/do/search?term=Street+Fighter) and its many cousins, but seems to share some gameplay DNA with Capcom's Dreamcast classic Power Stone (http://www.evilavatar.com/games/dc/power-stone) or Namco's Ehrgeiz (http://www.evilavatar.com/games/ps1/ehrgeiz). Up to four characters duke it out in three-dimensional arenas -- using quick combos, extremely violent special-attacks, and throwing various objects lying around. It's undeniably fun to freeze your enemy by hitting him over the head with a big tank of liquid oxygen.
