The UFO: Alien Invasion team has just release a new version. Some of the features added since last version include:


new day and night versions for frozen, tropic and oriental themes (see Random map assembly (http://ufo.myexp.de/wiki/index.php/Mapping/Random_map_assembly))
extented the UFOpedia (new menu, more infos)
New technologies in research.ufo
Updated weapon and armor stats
New and updated translations available
light and heavy armored models for blue (Antarean)
some more day/night versions for "normal" maps

Some details on what the hell this is would be nice. I've found them by myself, but that's no excuse for their absence.

Maybe, but there's been several posts about this project before, and I originally included some thumbs that should make it quite clear what it is. Don't know why they were removed.

RC2 was pretty fun, but it's not anywhere near the level of polish of the official X-Com games yet. Either way, I can't wait to get home to give the new RC a try.

hmm. not sure whether to bother with this. the version i tried (ooh, a month and a bit ago) was just complete crap. i think i'll pass.

from this and other open-source games, i've learned how important it is to not release a game until it's really finished and ready. i'd had some inkling from the games that are released way before they should be, but this has made it much clearer. once you've played a version of a game with one tenth the content and bugs every five seconds, i grow to hate the experience so much that i would actually rather the project failed in some weird way.
