Next Generation (http://www.next-gen.biz) is reporting that Konami and Buena Vista Games have announced a unique DDR-inspired collaboration, with the first product being a Disney-themed DDR Plug 'n' Play game.
You can read more about it here (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3455&Itemid=2).
Dance Dance Revolution Disney Mix, a Plug’N’Play product, is the first fruit of this collaboration, and will ship this fall. The Plug’N’Play unit plugs directly into a television, and includes a custom Disney dance pad. Dance remixes of Disney themes such as “It’s a Small World,” “Zip-A Dee-Doo-Dah,” and “Mickey Mouse March” fuel the gameplay, and the game includes multiple difficulty levels to suit a variety of ages and skill levels. Konami is partnering with Majesco Entertainment, which makes the Frogger and Konami Arcade Advanced products, to develop Dance Dance Revolution Disney Mix.
*checks calendar* Nope, it's definitely not April 1st!

Hehe, you caught me. I'm still a proud member of the House of Mouse.

This sounds like a direct port of the Disney DDR that came out for the N64 over in Japan (not sure if it was ever released here). It had alot of the same techno remixes as those listed in this article.
Man, I remember when our group of friends used to LOVE DDR--we'd have DDR Thursdays every week. And these aren't kids; we range in age from early 20s to early 30s. However, it just doesn't seem to have any appeal for us anymore; Guitar Hero effectively dethroned it as our music/rhythm game of choice. Just can't compare bouncing up and down on a foam mat to rocking out proper with a plastic guitar.
Thus, I think I'll be passing on this one. Best of wishes to anyone that's new to DDR, though--could be a great means of introducing a young, casual player to the game--IF the price is dirt cheap. (i.e. <$30)

Well at least it's relevant to the demographic who buys DDR.

Your wife buys DDR? Hot damn I bet you enjoy watching. :D
I've always found tween girls to be the main demographic who purchase these mats. And Singstar. And just about every other karaoke piece of shit going. Guitar Hero aside of course.

Yea, especially since at the time I bought them, it was in the middle of summer, in a house with no AC. So you can see they were put to good use.
On a side note, anyone want some xbox DDR mats?

Well, they should have had this out during the fall. Hell, they should have doubled their fall printings of DDR games, my store was sold out from November to January on DDR games.

I just bought a mat and a game for the first time last week. It's the perfect game that I've been jonesing for for a very very long time.
No stupid tutorial levels that account for half the "gameplay time". No stupid cutscenes advancing a poor story with bad voice acting.
Nothing but solid gameplay you can play for 5 minutes or 5 hours.

I've got two mats and my wife (who is VERY well endowed, so insert joke here about bouncing) and I play DDR together alot. BTW, good luck finding any of the old PS1 versions on the cheep.
Plug in play? Oh yea, going to be GREAT audio quality on that, I bet.

If it's a port of DDR Disney Mix (PSX), that's awesome, because it had some interesting songs and unique mode but is extremely rare.
I'll probably pick this up unless it's over $50.

Disney DDR on the PSX was the shizzle. It was like listening to Disney songs on crack. Awesome!

I already have Disney DDR on my Playstation. I ended up playing it far more than the other DDR games combined. There is just something about dancing to Disney songs that is so much fun, and they fit surpisingly well with techno beats. I especially liked when Supercalifragilistic Expialidocious would go from fast to slow to fast again.
But, yeah, it sounds like it would be an exact port of it.
DJ Mickey rocks the house!

If you like DDR and disney, do yourself a favor and AVOID this. You can still find DDR Disney mix (ps1, works on ps2) if you look around. It's good if you like the music (Disco Duck is on there!) ;)
I've sold the "just plug it into the tv" ddr mats before and both the audio and video quality are truly horrible. I pretty sure an Atari 2600 has more computing muscle. When asked by (clueless) parents to describe the audio, I tell them it compares unfavorably to old cell phones (but that's probably being unfair to old cell phones). People still buy them when they don't own a console and don't want to drop $200 for their kids to play DDR.
Techie gobbledygook: Video resolution is typically 120 lines and 8 bit color. Audio is low quality MIDI with 2 or 4 note polyphony. ACK!

Were these Konami projects or some no-name company?
