Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/18/gears-of-war-still-tbd-too-human-could-slip-to-2007/) notes that the release date for both Gears of War and Too Human are both listed as TBD. After a less than (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=64701) favorable (http://www.gamesarefun.com/e3/impression.php?id=116) showing at E3, it wouldn't surprise many that Too Human is bumped to 07' for some additional polishing. If Gears of War slips and doesn't make it for 06' though, that would be a huge miss for Microsoft this holiday season. Especially after the strong showing at E3.

If GoW does slip to 07 it would be bad for MS.
MS need a killer app this xmas. The 360 needs something at least as big as GRAW or hopefully bigger for autumn/winter.

GoW missing 06 would be "bad" for 360... in a Ghostbusters kinda way

GoW can kiss my ass. It looks nice but lets hope the framerate stays solid. The gameplay however... well looks like any other heavily scripted linear shooter, meh.
I pick Dead Rising any time over GoW.

From the original article:
As for Gears of War, October sounds about right. Judging from the E3 build, the game is certainly on track for that date.
bapenguin - you are a damn gossip this morning. :)

"Could Too Human and Gears of War Slip till 07'?"
You just have to interpret this quote right. "Could Too Human...slip till '07?" is more like a warning that it might be late. "Could...Gears of War slip till '07?" is more of a general inquiry about whether or not it ever could.
Otherwise this newspost makes no damn sense. :p

There I added the correct logic operator to the title. :)

If you don't think MS is going to release GoW before the PS3 and Wii launch then you're crazy. I believe Viva Pinata (not too interested in that one) is another "big" release for MS this year.

Odd... I could swear I read somewhere a few weeks ago that Too Human had already slipped to 2007. But I can't find it. Maybe it was just a bad dream.

Too Human has already slipped to 07. Gamespot lists its release as Q2 07 and EB has it coming out in April 07.
As for Gears of War, it wouldn't surprise me if it slipped to late November, but I don't think it'll slip all the way to 07.

If Too Human didn't slip to 2007 lol lol lol. That's a given. I think Gears will be out this year.

I'm going with late October, early November for Gears. I listened to a podcast interview with cliffy b on OXM and he seemed confident of that time frame.

Anybody who saw that shlocky MTV docu about the E3 push for GoW knows that Mr. Bill will personally have CliffyB's testamonials clipped, guilded, and used for exclusive Windows Vista trackball controllers if it doesn't ship holiday '06.
I read on this site that Too Human had already slipped to 07. The devs announced it, didn't they? Beyond that, Gears of War not coming out would be a very bad thing. There are still too many people on the fence about buying a 360, they really do need that killer app.

Gears will be out in November at the latest, online retailers have it set as an early October release currently. Online retailer dates are to be taken with a grain of salt but sometimes they are correct especially when it's only a few months out. There was indeed a story here recently that quoted a dev saying Too Human had been moved back to 07.

Wow, the two titles I'm actually waiting for, yipee
The quality of these titles is so hyped, I'd rather let them slip and live up to the expectations they've built.
I plan to pick up a 360 come christmas, and I hope these games come out before, so I can get them cheaper! :)

If GoW doesn't come out this year, the Microsoft have nothing to stave off the PS3/Wii launch. And by the looks of E3, it doesn't appear to need anything doing. Too Human though? Good chance in my opinion.

Well the question is why isn't the release date Q4 2006? Instead it's listed as TBD.
I sir...stir no pot! :)

i dont see Gears of War being delayed till 2007 because they have made there moto strong "Emergence Day 2006" i dont think they want to break that
Too Human on the other hand didnt have such a strong showing because of all the problems it had so i can see that being delayed
plus some sites already are reporting a delay for Too Human

The 360 has some other titles coming out that are pretty cool this fall, but even though they are clearly ahead of their competitors in both the number of titles and the diversity of titles, I would have expected the system to have more than 3 RPGs out by the time it reached it's first birthday. I mean, if they are actually serious about gaining market-share in Japan.
This isn't a complete list I'm sure, but these are some titles that increase either the quality or diversity of the 360 game library this upcoming fall:
Dead Rising
Viva Pinata
Enchant Arm - first next-gen JRPG to come to the US
Phantasy Star Universe
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Star Trek Legacy
Plus, lots of the same old mainstream, but usually high quality and fun to play for a little while crap:
Call of Duty 3
Rainbow Six: Vegas
F.E.A.R.
Tony Hawk: Project 8
Need for Speed: Carbon
Forza Motorsport 2
Rayman & Sonic (along with every other console - but still cool).
So none of these are really as big of a deal as Gears of War, but they'll still have more quanity and diversity in game titles than their competitors (unless Nintendo actually launches with all 27 games that were demoed at E3 - very unlikely).
I honestly thought before researching this post that equally big titles like Mass Effect (Q2 2007) and Bioshock (4/07) were coming out this Fall for the 360. Those are also going to be huge. I guess they'll be next year's GRAW and Oblivion (2nd quarter blockbusters) for the 360 instead. . . which, you know, actually works for me fine. I can't ever buy all the titles that release in the Fall, which works out for me really as I end up getting them cheaper and/or simply renting games I was stoked about but were then reviewed and shown to be crap-tastic.

October 2, 2006 is what I've heard and I trust my source completely. Microsoft are keeping mum on the release date in order to do a huge reveal closer to the time in an attempt to deflect people's attention away from the upcoming PS3 storm.

I checked the release dates for GoW today and it still says 10/2/06 so I don't know. Now Too Human does say 07.

You complain that GoW looks to be more of the same, and then say you want an expansion pack for a FPS? WTF?This is the most broken logic ever. The expansion pack is roughly the same as Prey, which is fine because Prey is a decently unusual game. GoW, he meant, was very generic-looking, i.e. roughly the same as the rest of the genre. Although I guess I shouldn't have bothered explaining, since you're obviously just trolling.

looks like more of the same. would rather see a prey expansion packThe poster claims that GoW is "more of the same." Implying that its uninteresting because its similar to stuff he/she has played before. Then in the next breath, says he/she is interested in an expansion pack to Prey. This puzzles me because an expansion pack is, at its heart, defined by the fact that it is "more of the same" of a game someone has already played before. So to say one game is uninteresting because its "more of the same", and then claim an expansion pack is interesting because its "more of the same" really doesn't make sense.
Plus I would argue that the FPS genre is the most overdone genre in gaming and Prey is a pretty straight-up FPS game. I'm not saying its not a great game. But it still controls and plays just like any other console FPS before it.

I don't think Gears will be delayed. I mean, they wouldn't want me to kill myself, right? :p I seriously need to effing chainsaw someones intestines out with that assault rifle. :D
Too Human I'm on the fence about. Generally I don't like this type of game, but it looks alright. One of the things I can't stand about it as it is is the camera. I thought we ditched the 1-angle camera in the freaking 90's. Mario 64, anyone?

Too Human will be delayed until 2007, and Gears of War is possible as well... From what I have been told there are problems with the Unreal engine, which is causing the Too Human delay and the potential Gears delay. So, in reality this could potentially have an effect on any game using the Unreal engine that is trying to release by christmas or early Q1 2007...
Man, who cares. Just bring on Mass Effect.

Gears of War will come out this year. Cliffy B and Bill Gates say so :)

I am really looking forward to Too Human, so if they need the time to fix or improve it, then I am all for it.
Its already been in development for what...6 years now? Releasing before its done (or still buggy) just to hit the target of fall 06 is counter productive. Plus, if they do release in early 07, they will likely have alot more press and not have to fight with other high profile titles for consumer attention.

acually Too Human has been in development for roughly...15-16 years...no joke either, the development started roughly in 1992-93...but it was also put off for other titles (Eternal Darkness)

Wow. Even when people try to put together lists of impressive 360 titles that will be coming at some point in the future it leaves me cold. It appears more and more likely I'll never be buying one of those things.
Gears of War is no exception. Sci-fi shooter #1862 FTW.

If you are referring to my list, then it is not a list of upcoming titles to get excited about. It's a list of titles that are scheduled to come out this year that some people might get excited about. Bioshock, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Oddysey, Halo 3, Fable 2, Too Human, Assassin's Creed, and ShadowRun aren't on there obviously.
The lineup of holiday titles for the 360 is pretty bad though. All of these are pretty cool, but the other games I listed are the same old crap that gets regurgitated in a new form all the time.
Dead Rising
Viva Pinata
Enchant Arm - first next-gen JRPG to come to the US
Phantasy Star Universe
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Star Trek Legacy
