I'm talking about physically cleaning the dust and shit out. I've read that canned air is bad. Any ideas/recommendations, people?

Also, if a wound reeks of almonds, should one seek medical attention?

Thanks!

Where did you read that canned air is bad? I've been using it for years and I haven't had a hardware failure on a desktop since my AMD Athalon 1700+.

I use the pump from an inflatable bed. It's like a reverse vacuum cleaner I guess...but it works well to blow everything out.

Canned air is good, and the recommended route. Vacuum is bad, although I'm not sure about Randir14's method. The concern with a vacuum is that they tend to build up a lot of static, which is BAD.

tldr - use canned air.

Gas Dusters all the way... Or a compressor if you have a water filter. I also use Q-Tips in a twisting motion to get stubborn dust off of heat sinks, rubberized tweezers work too especially under a cpu fan or in random corners.

Installing some air filters might be a good idea.

I use canned air. Honestly, I've been bad with my maintenance on past systems--not cleaning them out at all. But I spent enough on this one that I went out and bought some real canned air, and I have a case that's basically nothing but metal grating :P so it's super easy to spray out. Hit it once a week or so.

As for Suicidal's suggestion, he means that if you're using compressed air off an actual compressor to make sure you have a water filter on the line to pull out the moisture, otherwise you'll fry the system. They tend to accumulate moisture as they decompress internally.

I seriously doubt you have access to a large-scale compressed air source tho >_> it's not typical.

If you do canned air, that's not compressed air, because the canned air will have the moisture pulled out already, the thing about compressed air is that it's compressing environmental air, which will always have some moisture in it.

We just installed a compressor in my father's garage and had to rig up a moisture filter and regulator.

That was just my previous point along with the compressor recommendation. I actually mean air filters for your computers case. Newer ones come with them installed but various companies sell ones you can just put over existing fans. You can even make your own easily just look up some tutorials.

Are you serious about the wound?

Because that shit needs a doctor if you are.

My wound smells like almonds?
...I slipped and fell on the wet floor giving me a huge gash in my right arm. The wound has not closed and is blackish green around the edges and smells like almounds. If and when do I need to go to the doctor?

And the response:

My friend you are developing what is commonly known as gangrene. You need to get to the hospital right away. If you wait too long they may need to amputate your arm.

I hope you're joking about the smell >_>
Does it look ugly?

Nah. Just a good quote from Austin Powers. Sadly, I've seen gangrene. And it amazes me it still exists in this day and age. But it does. And it does not smell like almonds!
