So rumor has it the split screen multiplayer in Ubisoft's Red Steel for the Wii will not only be ON the screen, but off the screen (http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=73468) as well.
In Red Steel, you'll have up to four players [in the multiplayer mode]. If they play together in split screens we can only say that the fight will not be only on screen (grins).
Hmm...could be totally embarrassing. You don't want your mom/wife/gf to catch you "wrestling" with your friends.
Thanks Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/17/red-steel-split-screen-multiplayer-the-fight-will-not-be-only/)

What's wrong mom? Joey and I were only playing with our Wii. I managed to get him to his knees and was slapping him around with mine!

No more embarrassing than Guitar Hero, DDR or playing with bongos.

If it's not on just one screen, then it could be really good for off screen cheapshots.

Such a thing already exists, it's called Unplugging Your Opponents' Controller Mid-Battle. Thank you MS for quick release Xbox controllers. I wonder my mates don't play Far Cry with me any more...?

In 6th grade, my friend totally convinced me that there was a secret level that I could unlock by giving him head while he played.

Jokes aside, what does this MEAN? Are we going to be pointing Wii controllers at one another and playing lazer tag?k It would be cool if there were timed bombs or something where you could shoot the other person's controller to give them the bomb an they'd have to shoot another controller to get rid of it, or maybe have a weapon where you shoot their controller and their gun is temporarily stunned/disabled.

Sounds like someones trying to leverage some hype back towards there fucking mocking of a control scheme by rolling out the old "light-o-saber" wave around.
I assume they are talking about swordplay as mentioned in early press. They had the ability to make a sword behave realisticly but didn't want everyone to have to become a trained swordsman (lies IMO it's due to technical limitations of UBIsoft)
If they use this "complete real sword mapping" for 4 players you could battle like you Wiimote was a sword and the onscreen video would probably look something like a 2D/3D fighter.
Every piece of news about Red Steel makes me cringe that this fucking title is going to be held aloft as the future of all FPS and Wii. Hopefully if it tanks hard people will be distracted from other titles.

"Hopefully people will be distraced from other titles"? You mean you want people to play nothing but Red Steel?

I've already warned my gf that I'm going to look like a total dork and she better get used to it ("please?"). :)

But how do you do that when the controllers are wireless and have no plugs?
