PS3land.com has an exclusive interview (http://ps3land.com/article-485.php) with Starbreeze, the developers of The Darkness, coming out for both XBox 360 and Playstation 3. Interestingly, the interview seems to be more about the hardware than the game itself:

Magnus Högdahl, CTO: The PowerPC part of the Cell is very similar to a Xbox360 CPU core. They share most of the common performance problems and are both quite bad at running generic c++ code. This is something we can deal with relatively easily, though.
In regards to the Playstation 3 specifically:

Jens Andersson, Lead Designer: It's a difficult question to answer for a lot of reasons (and not only for the political ones). The PlayStation 3 is powerful but you need to write some very complex code to take advantage of that.
It's interesting how many consumers have voiced that they think Blu-Ray is unecessary, yet this is another developer claiming that they have been questioning since the getgo if they would be able to fit all their content on one disc. It will be interesting to see what happens down the line.

Well, frankly, it could eb that they wonder if it will fit on one disc because they're stuffing it full of FMV...

I think the folks who are whining about a DVD not being enough space are really just whiners, plain and simple.

The fact is that you're producing shit that's going to be low res regardless. Use compression, fewlz! Compress the shit out of it!

God, how much would it suck if we had to switch discs once in the middle of the game?

So the real question is, is bluray worth $5 more for slower loading and not having to swap a disc?

umm.. the blue ray is for the bonus materials they want to put on the disk. Can you say ~3 making-of videos? woo hoo.

Ill take it on another disk, or perhaps they dont quite need to record it at 1080p.

I'd thought for a while that this movie had been canceled glad it wasn't the premise looks pretty cool.

I not really a PC gamer anymore. Are there a lot of multi DVD games out right now? Is this the reason why people are worried that a single DVD isn't enough?

Well blue-ray is not only for bonus materials, but rather for hi-def space capacity dev need for hi-def, and maybe jamming all the different language versions all in one disk, and say good buy to switching disks.

Well, one thing Starbreeze is doing is taking massive quantities of public domain TV and movies and sticking them into the game so all the TVs will be playing real content. It may be possible to watch all of King Kong, for example.
