I'm suprised they would release something like this. It's clearly in the beta phase and does actual show a fair amount of promise, but the kids aren't going to realise that.

You can see an interview and a demo for BF 2142 at Gamespot's On the Spot. It's the July 13th show, the first demo. There's also a bunch of ingame play video for the game.

It looks kinda like shit.

Lots of explosions and shots ringing out... fun in most games, in BF that means your going to die as you respawn. That isn't fun.

wow they are trying to drown QWars awareness right out of the media. And well, they are.
With pimping 2142 this hard, I would think that they were about to release it.
If they are about to release it then look forward to an ultra rushed unbalanced bunch of sci fi bits. It'll sell though.

If I was Activision, I would step up the media war quite a bit with better access for the press on QW. They have the better product, they just have to let the people know more about the game.

Are they doing that? This is the first I've seen of it since it was announced and the first I've heard of it since that beta testing news.

Well with Quake Wars pushed back, going head to head with the BF2142 marketing blitz just isn't a good use of resources. Better to let 2142 make whatever splash it's going to make now, and then when QW is ready to release quite some time later, THEN go balls-out on the marketing assault.

I've seen several gameplay videos now. Its pretty much Battlefield 2 in a scifi setting with way better options. I do like that you can choose what weapons you use with each kit. I'm guessing its getting released fast because they're using the same engine as BF2. In fact, I looked more like a well done mod for BF2 than a new game.

After watching it, it looks nice. Gamespot got to grips with it, and said Team Work will be much better now. Squad Leaders will have alot at thier disposal, and should hopefully have people working at a team. I need to see more of Quake Wars, just to see how it matches up.
