Just noticed that over at achieve360points.com they put up the Dead Rising achievements (http://www.achieve360points.com/game/deadrising/)... all FIFTY of them!

53,594 zombies defeated! 1,000 defeated BAREHANDED! Good god, I'm gonna be doing some zombie killing come release time for this sucker. There are some really cool things in here. Far better than the normal "pass the game, now pass it on hard" etc. ones. Should be fun.

I hope this means it will still ship in August. I notice all are 20 pts, regardless of difficulty. I don't know if that is bad or good, but I like that there are a ton of them. I may have to go pre-order this one.

I honestly think there are a ton of achievements because the game itself isn't that long or difficult. Achievements will add replay value and that's brilliant in my book.

It's almost like Timesplitters, and those challenge missions were very fun in my opinion.

I'm almost kinda glad we get in September in the UK since I can't actually afford it in August :P

Microsofts way of making up for crappy games? No wonder achievements exist!

I had to, I couldnt let that chance go. :D

Does anyone understand why they chose 53,594? It must be a reference to something.

I believe that's the case 100%. Now if only Sony would make up a way to make it's crappy games better.

Exactly...why else would anyone play games like X-Men? : D

In all seriousness, the achievement system is kind of a let-down, for me. They're already inconsistant enough across games to the point that they're meaningless to me, and this would be true even if you couldn't unlock them with the help of cheats in some games (GRAW).

MS tries to spin it like the more achivement points you have, the more "h4rdc0r3" you are and so far I haven't seen this correlation at all, outside of a few individual achievments. I expected the achievment system to be a lot more than it turned out to be and that's a little disapointing.

Edit: To their credit, the system does seem to be working well for MS. Working well enough, in fact, I really don't see any incentive for MS to improve the system as it stands, now.

I hope Dead Rising is awesome, as it could be the first MUST-HAVE X360 game.

Dead Rising's certainly the first must-have for me (unless early reviews are bad).

also, apologies for not noticing that these were already posted.

Microsoft should have a system were by they give free prizes each month to those who have the most achivement points or something.

I don't think I'd ever play for points competitively, I'd simply do it as a personal challenge. I mean, as it stands I found myself making up my own "achievements" for games, but it's always more fun when somone else has set a goal for your to conquer.

Personally, I like the idea of gambling for achievements in games like the upcoming Texas Hold 'Em game. I also like the idea of achievement points unlocking some kind of bonus in games. I don't mean simply "Unlock achievement X in Game Y to get some kind of special bonus in Game Y", but something like, "If you have X achiement points when you load up Game Y, something cool is unlocked."

Yeah, these were some of the things they could do to make acheivment points better. There's actually a ton of little things, but I think I've already jacked this thread enough, so on that note...

Dead Rising shall be mine and all zombies will come to fear the man in the Tron Bon helmet and the sword he wields, "Stabby McLegchopper".

Would've been if it hadn't be on PC also. Since it was, a lot of people aren't going to count it, including me.

Its not reference to anything that I can think of off the top of my head. Most likely its the number of zombies you'll encounter in the entire game since it is called zombie genocide.

How is Chromehounds? Should I rent it first and see if I like it before I buy it?

Good god. This can only be good. Nothing I have seen has made me turn my from it, all the videos look superb and suprisingly colorful and vivid instead of the common drab greyscale colorset.

Though I have yet to see any shots during nighttime, That mall could be creepy as hell at night with all the lights off. Imagine walking down a dark hallway and going around a corner and running into a Servbot zombie! That would creep me out.

I like how all the achievements are 20 points each, just enough to make them all worthwhile.

I believe I saw a shot a while back of Frank (think thats his name) beating a zombie with a HUGE fish.Thats so bad ass, brings back memories of playing through dynamite cop in a few hours and loving every minute of it. Dreamcast FOREVER!

This will be the first game I get 1000/1000 pts.

If you're a fan of the genre, then buy it. If not, then rent it. Either way, play the damn game!

I'm sure that in one of the cut scenes in Dead Rising the town where the zombie breakout it mentions it has a population of 53,594. I'm 90% sure.

I can't remember where I saw the cutscenes.

*EDIT* Yes I was right it's the population of the town. Here is the video. First few minutes and the helicopter pilot mentions it...
