Anyone else play the demo on XBL and feel EXTREMELY disappointed? I thought all the cars handled like shit.....something felt completely off whenever I made a turn, and the graphics really weren't all that great.
*shrugs* I'll pass on this one, just curious if anyone else felt the same way.

It'll be a great game once they put in the real car models, instead of the crappy one they used for this screen shot.

I've had better controls on a bowl of mashed potatoes.

yeah, i felt the EXACT same way after downloading the demo......i feel like i'm supposed to be excited for this game, but i just can't seem to muster up anything
could be also due to the fact that i haven't enjoyed Test Drive since #5 on the PS1......and I only enjoyed that game because i was like 15, and 3D texture mapped cars were still interesting

The controls were off in the demo, I agree. However, the demo was released in early May and the game is due in September. I see no reasons why they can't fix problems and improve graphics before release.

Do you think you could make the screenshots a little bigger, they're having trouble seeing them from the internation space station.

I still maintain high hopes for this game, particularly the online component. However, I have to say that there seems to have been a steady decline in the quality of the screenshots that are being released to the point that the most recent couple batches of shots look rather underwhelming in much the same way Madden for the 360 did. Still, I'd say that a good deal of how it looks will depend on how high they keep the framerate and how well the environment, scenery, and special effects (such as blurring) are implemented.

I very much enjoyed the demo on Xbox Live. I thought it played a lot more like the earlier Burnout games than Gran Turismo, and that is a Good Thing (tm).
Edit: I agree, the game isn't spectacular to look at, but it gets the job done. The size of the environment is COLOSSAL and I didn't find a single instance of 'loading' once I was on the road.
I still fire up the demo and just drive around, challenges be damned.

Yeah, I don't think the size of the screenies is helping with the car models. I bet you can't really see the facets and jaggies when you're at the real game res, but with these PLANET-SIZED screenshots, I can see every flaw.
Still holding out hope on this one, since there's no other open-world racers coming out.

It's pretty much a given that driving games have shit early demos. The Forza demo was atrocious and that worked out great. I think it'll be the same for this too.

That first one is 1764x988... Didn't know that was a native 360 rez... :D

I thought the handling on the cars was a bit off myself, and I hated that "high speed make the side of the road blurry crap" too.. Way too overdone.

I love driving games... and yet the X360 demo did nothing for me. If they are going to make an entire island open, give us a reason to really explore it. It just seems like there's nothing interesting to do in the game.

My favorite thing in the demo was to see the nice dealership only to be told i cant buy anything. Some escape from reality that was..

The Test Drive series has been pretty awful for years now. I still don't see why this game is getting as much attention as it is (the 360 is definitely not in need of racers), but I hope for the sake of those interested that the game turns out alright.

Dudes, you can tell the car handling is off just by looking at the videos... There's no way the corvette has that much sway in it at those speeds. It drops down and hugs the ground and does *not* sway. Obviously these people have never drived one.
The graphics blow badly. The trees and textures look like utter crap. The cars have low polygonal wheels and headlamps.
They cover up MOST of the graphical flaws (like the ASSTACULAR trees) with motion blur. Motion blur used in this way is a GREAT way to cover up lazy graphics artists on a poorly budgeted game (which is what happens when a midsized studio tries to release on all platforms at the same time).
Oh well. It's going to suck and there's no big surprise to that-- after all, it's a Test Drive game. The last GOOD Test Drive game was Test Drive 3. :)

I concur. Vettes hunker down at high speeds and stick to the road, they don't sway and bob. Worse thing is watching for the back end to come out since its got so much torque.
Maybe it's because everyone on the dev team drives front-wheel-drive/sub-300hp/4-bangin'/2Fast2Furious cars, they don't know any better? :p
