IGN (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/718/718740p1.html) has some details on the upcoming content integration between EA Sports titles and ESPN media. Remember, these folks sign a 15 year exclusive deal between them...so this is only the beginning.

When online, not only will players have the ESPN ticker at the bottom of the screen updating them on the latest news and scores, but it will also enable them to listen to streaming podcasts of ESPN Radio -- including those of Mike & Mike and The Dan Patrick Show.

This will be totally awesome once we start getting things like video highlights of real games during the half-time shows of Madden.

That doesn't sound too bad. I'm not a sports fan, so it doesn't really interest me, but it sounds like a cool setup.

I think it would be cool if for a big Madden tournament, they had John Madden do the play-by-play.

this is what EA should have been doing from the beginning with the ESPN license. every article/hands-on i read only mentions it being in Live 07. this should definetly have been implemented into madden for this year too.

This is the sexiest thing I've ever heard of. If they let me pick and choose the real-life sports scores I want to keep track of in a main "ESPN Sports Update" configuration subprogram that will be on a ticker that's shared between all EA Sports games, I'll be one happy MFer. That way I can lose all the crappy NHL/Golf/Tennis/Soccer scores and only get shown the NFL/MLB/NBA games I'm interested in. Hell, maybe they'll let me upload my Fantasy Football team and let me keep track of my players on the ticker.
