Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/sports/madden07/news.html?sid=6154033) reports on how the Wii version of EA's perennial football powerhouse is looking:

After that the center hiked the ball and the Steelers ran a running play to the left, giving us a look at the controls for the running game. The way it was explained to us is that the remote represents your hands or arms, while the nunchuck represents your body. For instance, if you want to throw a stiff arm to the right, you can flick the remote to the right. If you want to juke left, you can flick the nunchuck to the left. If you're trying to defend against a pass, you can quickly move both the nunchuck and the remote up above your head to make your defender jump up in the air for an interception. If you can't quite get the pick, you can simply swat at the ball by swatting the air with the remote.
This sounds like it could be a lot of fun, but it could also be very frustrating if the controls aren't perfectly responsive.

I'm a sucker for innovation, and I'm a sucker for the Wii.....but as a cliche gamer, I am not in shape, and I cannot see myself doing these motions for more than half an hour.

Now that I think about it, there really should be a Yourself Fitness game for the Wii :)

Sorry for sounding snippidy (still working on my first cup of coffee), but that has to be the most generalized statement for any Wii game made. ;)

I don't know... this could be very cool, but it could also overly complicate simple things. It's definitely going to have to be tuned "just right," and that might be different for different people. It sounds like they're trying to jam the wiimote's motion sensing into every little action in the game and I'm not sure that's the best approach for Madden. I'm interested because it's different, but skeptical because it sounds like they're making it overly complicated.

I would totally buy that!

Wii is the ONLY thing that has me even remotely interested in Madden. I hope the control scheme is spot on. No doubt there will be those who won't bother to learn something new and scoff at any change. Lord knows I'm guilty of laughing at my Nintendo friends. How could anyone possibly play a game with only their thumbs? Plus pad? Pshhh. Gimmie an Atari joystick any day.

Eventually I came around. Now I don't leave the house without my DS or GBA Micro. Plus pad is indispensable.

I'm waiting for the first lawsuit against Nintendo by someone who played the new Zelda for ten straight hours on the Wii and gets carpal tunnel/hand cramps/pulled muscle. If you doubt it will happen then you don't live in America. :D

I think I'll find the first one where somebody is doing an action with the Wiimote and it slips out of their hand and goes through their tv more amusing.

EA did that well enough on it's own with Madden '06 :p

That's your problem right there, mate. Hit up the gym.

I'm thinking it would be especially frustrating in football. I think football games are inherently frustrating because so much of the actual game is left up to the AI. Non-responsive controls would make me lose my mind I think.
