Major Nelson (http://www.majornelson.com/) reports:
You can now download a demo for ‘The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II’ from the Xbox Live Marketplace.
I bought the full version last week and it's very good. Definitely check out this demo to see how a console RTS can actually work.

Gonna download it now... Found it really odd that they had a "demo walkthrough" and no demo.

I bought the game before playing it and I ended up liking it a lot. But I don't know if it’s worth the 60 bucks I paid.

Do you also get the weird flickery weird shadows? I hate it.
The controls are choice tho.

Do what I did: buy both at the same time, and wait for the price matches. :D

That's why you make friends with someone who works at EA and gets games cheap.

I used to work at EA... gotta love the discounts... too bad none of my friends still work there *sigh*... $20 console titles is a sweet perk.

I bought Lord of the Rings and I like it. I've spent very little time with the RTS genre, but I like the LOTR story/characters/world and so, I thought I'd give it a try.
Since the genre isn't familiar to me, the 1st couple hours were a bit of a chore to learn the controls and what the hell I was supposed to do, but then it clicked and I was finally getting my units to follow my orders quick enough. At first I couldn't do little things like organize my units quickly into a fighting formation. Once I figured that out, I felt I was actually controlling my little army it became very satisfying. I'm about 5 hours in and would definitely still be playing if it wasn't for Chromehounds. Bad timing for LOTR...
Chromehounds Live may be all I'll be playing for quite some time. If you don't have Live, I'd say it's a no brainer. Get LOTR. It's single player is fun. Haven't tried multiplayer, but I've heard that's good too.
They're both good though, IMO. It depends on what you're looking for... Enjoy! :)

It's cool that they came up with a decent control scheme for a console RTS. I just can't imagine it being any better than the PC version which was completely mediocre.

I'm out of state until monday but this should have arrived at my door by now, $40 from playasia. I'm looking forward to it a lot, as I've never played a passable RTS on a console before but from all accounts this should be some decent fun.
In other news, I just got an email from playasia saying they shipped my copy of Prey! Gotta love those release date breaking importers.

So, BfME2 or Chrome Hounds? This is my dilemma.
The wife’s Birthday is coming up soon so I won’t have the cash to get both for a while. In fact, I will have to do some trade-ins to get just the one. But which one should I get?
I finish the single player on every game I have but still play multi player more. Most of my online time on the 360 has been with Call of Duty 2 but I’m getting quite board of its “same old same old” game play. Plus I’m sick if getting killed by a sniper shot in the foot and I want something with a better team play feel.
Although Chrome Hounds does fit that spot nicely I was not crazy about the demo and BfME2 would be a nice change as a completely different kind of game. With BfME2 I know and love the universe, it’s gotten good reviews and I like RTSes. However I don’t believe that I would play multi player much.
The only other quotient to my quandary is that, for me to be able to get the wife the new car speakers and still get me a game, one of the trade ins will need to be CoD2. That is something that I wouldn’t have considered a week or 2 ago but the talk on the EvAv forums about Chrome Hounds has gotten me itching for a new game.
Wow. That turned out longer than I had planed.

Anyone here play the first bfme and hate it? I hated the first one I thought it was poorly done.
But has anyone played the first and hated it, but played the second and thought it was good?
Because when it comes to this game im on the fence.
