CoV/CoH Double Exp Weekend

I saw this news on MMORPG.com. I can't find the official announcement but it appears to be legit. The weekend will be July 21-23.

NCsoft gives heroes and villains a boost with double XP weekend for City of Heroes and City of Villains July 21-23

NCsoft is giving City of Heroes and City of Villains players a boost to their characters with a “Double XP Weekend” where players will earn twice the usual experience points for all activities that result in an XP reward.

The double XP weekend will start at 9 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, July 21 and ends on Sunday, July 23 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time.

The “Double XP Weekend” will give players the opportunity to level up their characters and gain access to many of the new features available in both City of Heroes and City of Villains.

The “City of” games have recently been updated with Issue 7: Destiny Manifest which introduced the action-packed mayhem missions to City of Villains and added the PvP zone, Recluse’s Victory, where heroes and villains fight for control over a future version of Atlas Park.

May be a good time to re-activate my account and grab a few levels. I can imagine this would also be a good time to quickly get flight powers on new characters that I'd like to try.

These bastards keep tempting me back. I had a lot of fun when playing, but the grind got to me pretty quick.

Arg, I migh have to reactivate as well. Though you know, double xp is probably about the right amount you SHOULD normally be getting. The game takes for fucking ever to level up in.

Could this be the beginning of the end for COH/COV? I used to play pre-nerf (ie: before I6). The game has been stagnant since before ED and ED only ruined the game. Could COH/COV be headed towards a similar fate as Auto Assault? If it is, Cryptic Studios is the only one to blame.

I doubt we'll see CoH die anytime soon... From what I hear, it's numbers have been going up steadily, not down.

I tried it again a couple months ago and thought that it took one hell of a lot longer to level than I remembered at launch. Like maybe twice as long.

Yeah Virtue and freedom are packed most of the time, CoH seems to be the place that disgruntled WoW players (There and EQ II ) are going until WAR, Conan, or Bioware upcoming MMO.

Yeah...I think that may have been why I quit at one point. I had a few bad runs, got myself into the red. It was already taking so damn long to level that I just stopped playing

Just to clarify something... I can reactivate my old account and have my old character still rocking along?

I've never done the reactivation route before. When I stop an MMO it generally stay stopped but I've really been missing CoV of late and this news is really tempting me back.

Anything on mmorpg.com's newsreel can be considered legit. They get their news from official sources many times before it shows up on the official sites.... officially :p

Hmm, I have been thinking about getting back into this also. The last free weekend thing that let you play CoV was cool. If there were a bunch of people to play with it would be sweet. I don't have nearly the time to play anymore that I did when I played WoW but CoH/CoV is easy to jump in and out of.
