Saint's Row provides an unprecedented amount of freedom to experience the game as the player sees fit. The game, based in the fictional urban surroundings of Still Water, is action adventure with its core as a third-person shooter.
Under threat from rival gangs and corrupt officials, the 3rd Street Saints must conquer the city or face destruction. But this is no ordinary city. Gateway to the Rust Belt, Southern Cross is a living-breathing environment where enemies may strike back at any time and send you reeling for support.Check new Saint's Row screens & trailer (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=35419) over at WorthPlaying.

One thing I've noticed about all the Saints Row screens I've seen. There is very little traffic on the roads.
I really hope it doesn't but I think this game is going to suck.

Pedestrians react to your actions and remember who you are. Fail to represent, and other gang members will lose respect for you. Bling up your latest car, wear expensive clothes and women will flock to you.
-wow just like in 'real life' ...
Still, kudos for providing the online play that should have been standard in gta: SA.

I'm hoping they deliver on most of their promises with this game... I could see myself being pretty happy with it.

Volition should make a sequel to Freespace 2. Buy the IP rights back from Interplay and stick to what they were best at, awesome space combat games with big fuckoff ships.

I don't think I have ever agreed with some one more in my life. I don't even care if they use the Freespace IP or not I just want them to do another space combat game with big fuck-all ships. :D

If you liked GTA you’ll love this game. People seem to be really underestimating it though. I wonder if that’ll affect its sales.

This game really screams 'GTA-ripoff'. Aside from the online modes, there is nothing new here. I think it has got potential to be fun, but it's really just a snack until GTA IV. So far Rockstar has been good at adding to the series and improving it; now they have an entire new set of hardware and capabilities.

So, how's the framerate? It was really really bad at E3, I hope they'll be able to fix it.
I'll definately get it if it doesn't run at 15fps

On paper, yes. So did True Crime: Streets of LA.

On paper, yes. So did True Crime: Streets of LA.Well this is true. I don't know what they've said this game is supposed to be on paper, so that's not where my comments are coming from. They'll release a demo on Live eventually, check it out.

This game looks so much like GTA it actually makes me laugh a little every time I see a new batch of screenshots. You'd think they could add their own style to it.
It seems like it ought to look a touch better on the Xbox360 too. Like GTA on the PS2, it doesn't quite hold up to other games on the system graphically. I understand it's handling a lot more stuff in the background, but still. I'm betting GTA4 is gonna look better than this. It'll be interesting to see how the play control feels, and what extra touches of freedom both this game and GTA4 bring to the table.

It should, considering it's coming out 14 months later.
I'm sick of all the hating going on around here about this game... not one of you has played it..
Every publication that has played and written up on it says that this is THE game to own on the XBox360 and I personally think this thing is gonna be huge and move systems (just like GTA did)..

I don't see any "hating"; merely skepticism.

I just haven't seen anything that has impressed that I haven't seen already. Not to mention that the whole gang banging thing looks to be crudely done here compared to GTA that treated the material with respect and gave it a filmic quality. I think the potential is there and I don't doubt Volition are a talented enough company to pull it off, I just don't see it being all that great.
Multiplayer however is a different story...
I'm not sure where people get the impression that the next GTA is going to reinvent the genre or anything. I bet all they do is pretty it up, add a bunch of unnecessary auxillery shit that only appeals to a handful of people and multiplayer (here's hoping).
Even with them "prettying it up", I've NEVER seen/played a GTA game for its graphics, and I don't think R* even has artists capable of pushing a system (Warriors, Red Dead, Midnight Club, are all meh...)
I'm still interesting in this one and if they can hash out the framerate issues I've seen in the videos, then I'll probably just pick it up.

I think it looks great, just like GTA only with improvements and additions to everything SA offered. It's got very nice animations and looks fantastic, the weapons systems from what I've seen in trailers and video interviews seems excellent, and as long as the missions in the game are cool and interesting, I think everyone who enjoys GTA will certainly enjoy Saint's Row, much the same as folks who enjoy Baldur's Gate can still enjoy another RPG set in a fantasty setting.

Well, GTA hasn't evolved all that much between the last two releases. At least this game allows you to make up your own character. I like a lot of what I have seen so far. Most of us haven't had any play time, so it is all speculation for us. We get to read a few articles and watch a few videos. So far, i like what I see, so i will definitely be in line on day one.
I hope the game is as fun as it looks and gets a lot of support.

If all goes as planned, this will play better than GTA: San Andreas, look many times better than GTA: San Andreas, and have even more content than GTA: San Andreas a few months over a year before we'll be getting our hands on GTA: IV.
I loved San Andreas, but Saint's Row is shaping up to be a lot of fun and I really want some free-roaming sandbox game (besides Oblivion) to pop in my shiny new Xbox 360.
The trailer looked pretty good to me. I found it on WorthPlaying.com. Trailer #3, I do believe. Check it out. :p

I completely agree with you on almost everything.
You say there's nothing new besides the online modes, but those are what's so new! I can't wait to take on friend's gangs on Live.

OOooooooOOooOoo! Tell me, tell me!
Not to mention that the whole gang banging thing looks to be crudely done here compared to GTA that treated the material with respect and gave it a filmic quality.
Are you inferring that GTA presented gang-banging with respect such banging deserves?
I find that funny. :p
You've not played this and I doubt you have watched the trailer. Any self-respecting GTA fan with a 360 or a friend who owns one should be excited as all hell for this game. I think it's safe to assume that this will kick True Crime's ass. If it doesn't, don't come flaming me, as I'm not putting this game on a pedastal before its release, but I do believe online multiplayer will kick ass, so I agree with you there.
