This seems like it's been in development...forever.

Well, the original LOTR Online was being developed before EQ came out... I think this is at least the third version being made, none have been released.

Huh... well. I don't know why anyone would want to foray into the MMORPG market anymore. Just seems like a waste of money, cause really, nobody is going to be dethroning Blizzard anytime soon.
Best of luck, though.

This is being developed by the the same people who somehow manage to acquire all the licenses to big-name IP, and then churn out a really bad game. Their last game was Dungeons & Dragons Online. Did anyone ever play the 14 day trial? I can't believe that some designer would take such a deep and fairly complex PnP game such as that and output a pc game that feels like you need no brains at all to play. They might as well sell it to a run-down arcade and try to make a few quarters.
I had such high hopes for that game only to be incredibly disappointed. I have no expectations for this one other than another let-down. They should have stuck with Asheron's Call II and made it better instead of gaining licenses that other developers should be granted.

1999 called, they want their billboarded trees back.
I've never been impressed with anything turbine released and graphically they just don't have it. I dunno if it is their art direction or if they just don't pay to get quality artists but Turbines products range from graphical blah to outlandish graphical blah.
I will admit they were the only truth speakers when they said they had an evolving world with their monthly-ish new content. This was coming at the same time that EQ kept saying "we are an evolving world" because they'd send out a patch with no new content and probably half a dozen nurfs.
edit: I evolved my post to remove many redundent uses of the word evolved.

seems like for something thats been worked on for this long, by a company who has made enough games to know what works and what doesnt, the landscapes would look a little better. The interaction between the frog and the water looks pretty good (assuming its actually swelling around the frog, and that isn't just a trick of the frog model) but other than that, im unimpressed.
Also, didnt I read that this was a non pvp game? I could have sworn I read that somewhere, but I could be wrong.
Edit: I won't get into how bad DDO is, even though I really want to. For details, see every other post i've ever made since it came out. :)

I can't believe that this is still around. Middle Earth Online looked promising about six years ago, back before the movies came out. Yosemite (sp??) was developing it and it sounded pretty neat. Now this whole Middle Earth/LOTR MMO thing needs to be put to rest. It's obviously one big failure.

Not for at least another year Aversion, still Blizzard is beset with a lot of internal problems, not to mention out of all those subscribers a good 90% of them are pissed off over end game, but to be fair Blizzard is busting it's ass behind the scenes to fix that though it’s hard when folks are jumping ship hand over fist…. it' really looks like we won't be seeing BC until summer 07.
There is one game coming down the pike that has a good shot of dethroning Blizzard (And no it's not WAR) The developer is rock solid, and has already co developed a string of hit RPG's, but the title won't be officially announced till This October.
