Xequted (http://www.xequted.com/news/2165/nhl-07-screens.html) has a few screens from EA Sports NHL 07' for the XBox 360. You can see some of the recently traded players on their new teams.
Hot damn those graphics look good. Lets just hope it plays good.

Still has that creepy face staring off into space look going. Thats the downside to hyper real graphics with real textures. They look good, but the faces always stand out like a soar thumb.

come on now, there is no buckets of sweat on them! All ea games require teh sweat plug in!

Yeah, it does look a bit weird. You can use stylized graphics in almost any other game to avoid it, but in sports games that doesn't work. It's the whole Uncanny Valley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_Valley) phenomena.

Thankfully, no one plays a hockey game in that type of view. Why don't they show some 'normal' gaming views for once?

Sometimes that NHL 07' player looks right at ya. Right into your eyes. And the thing about an NHL 07' player is he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, he doesn't even seem to be living... 'til he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... oh then you hear that terrible high-pitched screaming.

The problem is, they spend all their time on 'ultra-realistic graphics' for a game that 99.9% of the players play in overhead view with the camera panned out far enough to see from one side board to the other and you never see the players faces unless you get a penalty or it's between plays. I don't care about the graphics, all I see are colored jerseys with the players name under them so I know who I'm controlling.
Let's make a hockey game that doesn't suck. Let's make one without massive holes in the AI where I run up the score to 30-0 in the first period because doing a loop behind the net and coming out between the circles and shooting = insta-goal. Let's make a game where fast players are an actual benefit. Let's make a game where the user doesn't get 80 shots on goal every game and it's just a shooting gallery. Let's make a game where the 'strategy' isn't to check everything that moves and hold down turbo like it's mandatory and shoot from everywhere. Let's make a game where when a player gets injured, a player from the other team actually recieves a penalty! Let's make a game that has 5 minute majors and Game Misconducts! Let's make a game (Cough 2k6) where if your player is injured they don't finish out the entire game with a broken neck and THEN go on injured reserve.
I love hockey, I like the 2k hockey games, hate the EA game since Sega, but realistically, video game hockey is nothing like real hockey and that kinda sucks.

EA was king of the roost from about NHL Hockey (92 I think that was) till about NHL 98. The move to 3d really ruined the feel of the game.

I'm with Undertakr...it's about time we get a damn great hockey game. NHL2k7 I hope continues the tradition of making a realistic game but NO MORE BUGS. Don't forget Takr the one where "The Calgary Flames have won 5 in a row" on screen but announcer always says 3. I hope NHL07 kicks some ass, but again these graphics mean nothing to me since we don't use these views. I'm not a fanboy...I want a good sim type game from either one of these two companies.
With 2k7 you know they're adding new features but you probably also know they haven't fixed all the bugs in the previous installment. Cole and Neal gotta go...I know im Canadian but damn those guys suck. Give us some announcers with passion...Mike Emrick and John Davidson would be the perfect fit.
NHL 06 always is big hits, I hope they come up with a better product because im sick of playing a bugged out hockey game although I completely enjoy it. So go figure that one out. /end rant

Hey, any hockey game in which the Calgary Flames win 5 in a row, im going to buy. Hell, if the game lets the Flames win 82 in a row, Ill pay twice the price.
Sorry, just... like the only Flames fan in my entire area, so when I hear anything posted about them, I have to react. Especially being surrounded by Laffs fans. Its been a hard 15 years, but damn, its worth it!!! :D

Amen. I tell you what, I have more faith in 2K Sports fixing their game's bugs than I do EA Sports fixing, well, their lame and broken gameplay.
