Does anyone know which PC titles are currently the most demanding on the PC in terms of the CPU, memory, and graphics card?

Dirt 3 seems to be pretty demanding, but I want to test my system (i7 2600, 8 gigs of RAM, GTX 570 (upgraded from GTS 450)) against the most resource-hungry titles I can find.

Thanks in advance!

Total War:Shogun 2 and increase the size of the armies and run it DX11, that pushes the envelope quiet a bit. Il2 Cliffs of Dover which is a flight so might not be up your alley so I would recommend Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead over that. The good thing is Johan that most games will not test your specs much.

The Witcher 2 has numerous graphic options, including "uber-sampling" which will bring all but the most powerful PC's to its knees. Metro 2033 is also a beast with everything turned all the way up.

You can grab the free trial of RIFT and crank that sucker up to the max. Only about 25fps on max settings using a GTX470, 8 gigs of ram, and a 3.2 Quad Black.

Appreciate the suggestions! I'm so pumped to have a powerful computer. It's the first time in over a decade that I haven't had any bottlenecks in my PC hardware.

BTW: The GTX 570 is huge and pretty heavy. Surprised me a bit.

Oh man, I can't wait to get my gaming machine up and running. I will be going 570 as well. Let us know how well it handles Shogun 2 and the Witcher 2 - if you get em.

Metro 2033 is known to be one of the most demanding titles.

Also S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky + Complete mod.

Also, surprisingly, throw a few good mods onto Oblivion or Fallout 3/New Vegas and you'll have one hell of a demanding title.

If you want a title that's demanding for reasons due almost entirely due to horrendous programming, check out Cities XL, Starcraft II or Minecraft.

The Witcher 2, Metro 2033 and Rift are the only ones I've managed to push my new system with. The best looking and most demanding is probably the Witcher 2 with Ubersampling turned on.

Grand Theft Auto IV
Splinter Cell Conviction

Other thoughts:

You should try the bench mark Nvidia Supersonic Sled. It's alot like a game but will test out your hardware nicely. lots of fun.

Yea, Witcher 2 does a liver punch on my PC and I don't even have Ubersampling on. I usually run around the 20s with a AMD 6870, Sandy Bridge i5 OCed to 4.0 ghz, 8 Gigs of Ram, and a resolution fo 1680x1050.

I love games that are a stress on my rig so hearing Witcher 2 being talked about is making me want to research the game. Never tried the first game and never paid attention to the newest release. Maybe i'll pick it up on steam to give it a go..
