It seems this has been going on forever (see kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5588639/valve-wants-to-know-what-youve-got-installed-on-your-pc) jun 2010 ;-) ) and i never noticed (at least since last year) so take my rant with a grain of salt. I can not remember this from the last Steam Survey i took.
</edit>
We all know the classic Steam Hardware Survey. Well the newest iteration seems to now scan all your Software to go along with the Hardware.

While this isn't mandatory i feel this is getting out of hand. I see no reason for a Gaming Platform to collect this kind of information. Not that i am paranoid, but why not just scan all my Bookmarks, Website history as a next step ? Data Hunger leads to fail!
I sure as hell will not take part in any of these Surveys ever again. And Valve is becoming spookier with everything they do for me.
