TeamXbox (http://www.teamxbox.com) is reporting that the new map pack for Call of Duty 2 -Invasion- will be available for download from Thursday for a reasonable 800 Microsoft Points.
Check out the article here (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/11244/Call-of-Duty-2-Invasion-Map-Pack-Update/).
Following the release of the Bonus and Skirmish map packs, Activision and Infinity Ward announced back in May that they planned to release a third multiplayer map pack in July featuring five new maps.
Today, we found out from sources within Activision that the Invasion Pack is about to hit Xbox Live sooner than expected. This third map pack is targeted for release this Thursday for 800 Microsoft Points, instead of the originally planned 900 Points. The download will include the following maps: Antoville, France (Crossroads); St. Louet, France (Newvillers); Amaye sur Seulles, France (Normandy); Alam Halfa, Egypt (Decoytown); Rostov, Russia (Harbor).
I've yet to try CoD2 multiplayer on Live because I've heard so many bad things about it. Anyone have any experience with it?

I played CTF a few times and found it to be enjoyable. I'm more into BF2MC though.

Is it still capped at 8 people? 4v4 just isnt big enough to be fun imho.

The maps are mostly too big for any CTF to work well with the eight player cap, but deathmatch and team deathmatch are very good. Assuming you don't use the cheap ass trench gun :)

It's alot better since that patch they put out. Meaning, less lag and you actually go back to the lobby after a game. Occasionally you will get a match where everyone seems to be sniping the crap out of you, but most of the games I play (Team Deathmatch) are fine and fun. I picked up the first pack, and I'll probably pick this one up. Spending most nights playing coop in GRAW these days.

I actually love CoD2 online. When the game first came out it was unplayable... however since they updated the multiplayer component of the game it is a ton of fun. I love a good game of team deathmatch.
It is much much much more fun online than PDZ is, thats for sure.

I haven't tried it yet either. Maybe we should play against each other to get up to speed so that way there's no one to tell us how bad we suck.

Haven't bought the map packs, but COD2 is what I and The Letter 3 default to to play multiplayer online. I believe it is one of the best online multiplayer games, although it still needs halo 2's party system.
Just a note: If you are in a game, and there are only 5 people, and no one else joins, its because the person who is host created an online game. For some reason Infinity Ward decided that when you create a game, you have to have 3 friends slots. So if you arne't playing with 3 friends, and you host, your max players is 5.
You can fix this though by doing a search for either search and destroy or headquaters. Not many people play those, so the game doesn't find a game, it sets you up as host, and you can then mess with teh game settings.

Originally COD2 had very bad lag in multiplayer, but since the update it runs smooth as glass for me. I haven't had the time to play the new maps too much since I've been gone on business for over a week but it is a great game online. I especially like all the Russian maps and El Alamein. I will get the 5 new maps when I get home which will also likely be thursday... :D

Yeah, I still remember you convincing me a few months back that instead of GRAW we should play some CoD2, so I went and played, and we got TKed like 6 times in a row. Havent played since :)

Post patch is better but, personally, I still don't get the frenetic feeling I did with the PC version. I think a lot of people were burned by the launch issues with CoD2 online (360) and have not come back. Maybe after Xmas when we get some fresh sales of the title it might pick up.
I still think CoD2 is the best WWII shooter out there and really hope the online kicks in soon. I love it.

Yeah, you somehow got the most craptastic games to play in. Its really not that bad. I swear. I boot people who do that shit when I'm host.
I haven't played GRAW since then either. I want to. I like the game. I just don't pop it in for some reason. That and I work during the Tuesday night Graw sessions. :(
I also think that I like COD2 so much because I'm good at it. :D

Yeah man, we need some new maps. :(I liked BF2:MC but couldn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. All I wanted was the ability to instance private matches or Hell just let us host. All the boosting and so forth turned me off after awhile. I keep hoping to read something here that changes all that.
Yes it's a dressed-up port with single-player that makes you want to choke the developers, but the multiplayer is really good IMHO minus my issue above.

Yeah, I agree.
When I got COD 2 on the 360, I was expecting the same multiplayer experience from the original COD's expansion (Finest hour).
It was kinda like, battlefield, you had to capture certain points on the map, it had vehicles and lots of other things. Great multiplayer game.

I'm getting fuckin sick of stuff being so over priced.

Wait, I didn't even look at the price until BAP said something. 5 maps for 10 bucks? Not worth it. I LOVE this game, but the first 2 maps for 5 bucks, and now 5 maps for 10 bucks? Nope. The first 4 (not just 2) should have been free, and these 5 maps for 5 bucks. That I would have bought. In a hearbeat.
I agree BAP, stuff is overpriced. *cough*GRAW expansion*cough*

Prices for maps are re-goddamn-diculous. But not as bad as paying money for picture packs! I could draw some of that shit given 10 minutes in MS paint.

IMHO, 800 points is NOT very reasonable for a map pack. That is the same as what you pay for a full classic arcade game.

i thought the new pack contained 4-5 new maps, its not then 800 points is overpriced. at least iw is still releasing maps at this point and supporting the game. i am awaiting my best buy gift certificate in order to repurchase cod2.

Yeah, I forgot to put single quotes around 'reasonable'. :o
Mind you I don't have a 360 so I don't know how this new-fangled points system works, but from what I've gathered is that the maps for this update (or whatever they're calling it) will be about 2 bucks for each map. I guess I don't follow how that's over-priced. Is it too expensive because no one's really playing it? What it costs me to get a pop somewhere is just about what one of those maps is going to cost. I relalize you have to get them lumped....but I'm seriously not following the too expensive line of thought here.

Because Sony certainly won't be overcharging for the crap on their version of marketplace. As for Nintendo, remember the full price GBA ports of NES games? Can't see them overcharging for downloading classic games at all. Even the PC is getting screwed with things like the oblivion content and BF2 booster packs.
