Here is the link (http://csusap.csu.edu.au/~mloxto01/)
MultiTES4 is my attempt at an Oblivion mod/add-on that, you guessed, adds multiplayer to this awesome game. I started the work on this project around the 7th of May, 2006. It's come a long way, and has a long way to go, but with perseverance and a little luck, it'll go a long way. At the moment, MultiTES4 consists of three components: A client application, a server application, and a Oblivion 'esp' modification file. All these combined with a little luck (and a whole heap of code) and voila, we have multiplayer!
Take a look for yourself. I assume it's PC only.

I pray it doesn't die off like all the other multiplayer mods for good games.

It's certainly got potential. I could see great things coming from that.

Right now only two people can connect with each other, and nothing will sync. Something to watch but nothing to get excited about yet.

Shouldn't Bethesda be charging people monthly for this....

How can Bethesda close a mod? Really?
If they patch it in next update, someone will update it to make it compatible or work around the block.
User-made content is a big can of unstoppable worms.

Why the hell would bethesda try and stop the mod? Why do they care whether you can play it multiplayer or not? This wuold be sweet if they got it working.

That comment proves you don't work at Sony :D ;)

I honestly look for the next Elder Scrolls title to be an MMO...Honestly I was surprised this one wasn't.

Well, does anybody remember any mod that was closed by the original company ?
I can remember the Duke Nukem one (on source)... there was another for sure...

If a developer gives away the tools of modification with the product (well, okay... you gotta download it but you get my drift) then it is safe to say they aren't going to be too fussed with the creation of mods that expand the gameplay. :P

That isn't a mod. That is a TC(Total Conversion), which just happened to use somebody else's intellectual property(Duke Nukem, duh).
Completely different ballgame than writing a mod that ADDS(key word adds)a feature to a game, especially a game that is specifically meant to be modded.

a goldeneye mod was shut down as well

Again, not a mod. It was a TC.
Again, shutdown due to using goldeneye assets without permission.
Oh, and btw, there is more than one goldeneye project that was shutdown.
In both cases, they weren't modding an existing game to add features to it, they were taking content from one game and porting those assets to a new engine. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SCENARIO, get it?
While we're at it, the term is "foxed".

This happened with Morrowind and Bethesda didn't try to close it.

Thanks for explaining that to me obiwan. I have never heard of, or even used, one of those mod things before. I heard rum0rz on the intran3ts about them though.
edit-take a look at any mod site and you will realize that most mods are ripoffs of other games, gameplay type, and trademarked material. Carrying more golden giblets is not a mod to me, that is just a lame ass add on.

Oh please. You obviously don't get it.
You trademark Duke Nukem. You trademark James Bond/Goldeneye. You trademark Star Wars.
You don't trademark co-op, team dm, ctf, basic multiplayer, or any other gameplay mechanics.
As far as rip-offs go, I don't believe you can rip-off gameplay type. That type of attitude is silly. Its like saying only one company can't make screwdrivers and everybody else who makes a screwdriver is ripping them off. Oh no, I can't write a suspense novel, I'll be ripping off Crichton. Oh shit, Honda makes a nice sedan, we don't want to make another nice sedan, we'd just be ripping off Honda.

Well actually if the screwdriver had been patented in perpetuity then only one company would have been allowed to make them. ;)
Anyway as someone with a law degree, Random is on the money. The issue with those other mods was to do with intellectual property that was owned by another company that was being used without the owner's permission.
And for the record the type of software phantomhitman calls a lame ass add-on is actually a mod.
Totally new games based on pre-existing engines... as Random has already pointed out... they are called TCs.
I wonder why on earth the phrase Total Conversion has become so unheard of these days.
It is a pretty darn big distinction.

I present to you: YKK. Please inspect all your zippers and you find YKK somewhere on them. A single company has a patent on the zipper: Global Zipper Domination!
Well.. maybe not.. total monopoly...
Zippers are Canadian. Take that to your pants and drop them.
