ArenaNet sends along word of their upcoming Guild Wars Factions in-game event, the Dragon Festival (http://www.guildwars.com/events/ingame/dragonfestival.php).

In the spirit of celebration, adventurers on the continent of Cantha are cordially invited to the Dragon Festival, a summer festival with all the trimmings!

Participants in the Dragon Festival can join in fun carnival-type games (Whack-A-Worm, anyone?), play new mini-missions and special PvP gameplay, undertake unique quests, and collect Asian-flavored treats such as red bean cakes and rice wine. Ceremonial Dragon Masks will be awarded to those players who are able to collect enough globes filled with the Jade Wind essence that changed Cantha two hundred year ago. The conclusion of the Dragon Festival will be marked with surprises true Canthans won't want to miss.

Taking place in and around the Shing Jea Monastery on June 30, 2006 at 7:00 GMT and running through July 5, 2006 at 7:00 GMT, the Dragon Festival is an exclusive weekend event for Guild Wars Factions players.
Visit the site for a quick preview of the perks of the Dragon Festival, one of which is the Ceremonial Dragon Mask.

I really shouldn't have bought Guild Wars Factions. Played it once or twice, dropped it. GW just seemed better, fresher. Oh well, maybe I'll get around to it some day... but I can't help thinking there are games with actual stories and points in my ever shrinking amount of time to play.

The lack of posts here makes me glad I skipped Factions.

I believe I was misled just a little when it came to Factions. The name alone should have told me that this was primarily a PvP game unlike Prophecies. ANet totally went after the PvP players and kind of made a tacked on PvE (with heavy PvP stuff) part with Factions. I've yet to finish Factions because once again, idiot PUGs reign supreme and guild members are almost never on (at least when I last played).

I have no idea what's going on with the EvAv guild now. There's not that many posts in the forum and it seems as if most of the hardcore players from the beginning have moved on.

Man, playing Prophecies last summer was great, though.

Im having a good time with Factions. I have a level 20 ritualist and hes a blast to play. The city part of Factions was a slow point for me but there is plenty of PVE in factions.

Well I'm enjoying the hell out if Factions, I brought my Ranger/Necro from Proph over the PVE for me is Just as tasty as the first one, I stay far away from pugs but I have to say to me there are a lot fewer idiots in GW than there is in WoW. I heard the next Expansion pack will have a Celtic theme with mounts, and I trust my source she has never let me down before. So yeah I'll be GWing fro along time to come.
