Yea! another movie adaptation that has a snowballs chance in hell of being a decent game.

It will probably sell millions.

They make it sound as though he hasn't recorded his lines yet ("will lend" as opposed to "has lended") and then the game is due on shelves in 3 days? O_o

Usually tie-ins are just knocked out fast as possible without a care for quality cause they're guaranteed some sales but the last one did alright, 7.6 on Gamespot, and given that it's a game about freaking pirates you can probably over look any faults for the piratey goodness.

If I recall correctly, the first PotC game was a pirate game that Bethesda was already well into development on and Disney came to them and offered them a shit load of money to change some models and slap the PotC name on it.

You recall right, it was formerly known as Sea Dogs 2. Now if i recall correctly, the only thing added with the name was the ghostship quest.

Precisely.

The first game had about as much to do with the movie as my shoes. The only similarities between the two was the pirate theme...and that's about it.

It's funny...ever since the summer I worked for a small theater, I can't stomach this "franchise" at all.
I enjoyed the first movie well enough, but scads upon scads of people would come to each and every showing...so the theater owners brought the damn thing back two or three times. I must have seen/heard the movie a good 14 times, not counting the two times I saw it independently.
I like it, but I'm tired of liking it.

I'll probably end up seeing it, mainly because it has Cthuloid-like creatures...but I'm not entirely thrilled about the idea of seeing it.

What a tangent...

Yeah, this is technically the first time an actual "Pirates of the Caribbean" is being made. The other was just a last-minute deal made to make a quick buck.
I'm sure Bethesda was pleased, overall; the game probably sold better than it would have, normally...especially with the resoundingly mediocre reviews it was getting.
