During a journalist briefing today, Promax/BDA CEO Jim Chabin and G4 COO Dale Hopkins announced that Microsoft's Peter Moore was to become the chairman of the Association of Electronic Interactive Marketers (AEIM).
Moore said the game marketing-centric MI6 Conference and corresponding trade group would serve as a forum "to talk about the issues," as well as honor some of the best advertising in the industry.
Moore further cited his background, saying that he's a marketeer at heart, since starting in the industry in 1999. He believes the industry, as a whole, needs "to sit and talk through the issues we face." He said that MI6 was very powerful, and great asset to the industry.
"I'm delighted to serve as chair," he stated.
During the question and answer session, Moore spoke about the "need to break through." He said that it "requires a tremendous amount of innovative marketing" to appeal to consumers' pocketbooks.
He went on to say that consoles had done a great job getting people to stop watching, and start playing. Moore cited those "tremendous websites" with millions of unique hits each month as one very viable new outlet to reach consumers.
A feather in the cap for Peter Moore and (in a broder context) Microsoft. Congratulations.
