Westboro Baptist went to Mississippi to protest a Marine's funeral and didn't expect what was coming to them. Seems like the site is down at the moment but here's a quote from it:

"A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his arse waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.

Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.

Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.

A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business."

Rankin County is Anonymous HQ, apparently.

Why the Westboro Baptist Church is a Scam (http://kanewj.com/wbc/index.html)

Fred Phelps does not believe what he is doing. This is a scam.
It's a business. They travel the country, set up websites telling you exactly when they'll be there, and using the most inflammatory statements all over the place, just to get someone to violate their rights for profit. Then they sue the military, the police force that was to protect them, and everyone that is around them for money. This is a sham, and it is a trap to get people sued. Every member of his family is an attorney. Phelps does not break the law. What he does is try to make you break the law by trying to punch your sensibilities about everything you hold dear, and then sue you and everyone municipality around him to the max.
This is a scam.
Whether he believes his posters or not is irrelevant.
He's using this as a moneymaking scheme.
Lay one finger on him, do one thing that violates him, and he will sue you, and more importantly, the city, the police department, the US Military, and any private property owner he happens to be standing on to make money off of it...

These assholes attempted to protest the funeral procession for a Marine in my last unit. The freedom riders ran them off before anything happened, which is lucky, because there was going to be an entire MSOT very unhappy with them.

The statement about them being a scam makes a lot of sense, lets just hope that one of these times hes left in no condition to sue anyone ever again.

I approve of any future beatings these assholes might get. Were they there Orphiuchus because your friend was homosexual?

Most organized religions/cults are a scam Anenome and they are the easiest way to get cash.

^This.

These dinks have found their niche, and it works for them. They want attention and create the most ludicrous ways of getting it. Protesting a
funeral???? wow. Endearing.
Double parking them into place is an ingeneous, non-violent way of ensuring an end-result. Kudos to whoever came up with that idea.
It puts a smile on the face of every sane person on earth.

As a Christian, it pisses me off that they're using the banner of Christianity to do this crap. It's anything but Christian.

I'm guessing they're just IRL Trolls. No one is this stupid.

What's going to happen is that they're gonna get themselves killed. It is just waiting to happen. Just takes one angry battle buddy at the funeral.

The military funeral protests are because they serve a country that is permissive towards gays. They show up and tell the soldier's families that their kid deserved to die. That's how they really started getting attention. And that's what instigated the formation of the Patriot Guard (http://www.patriotguard.org/)

The leadership may be doing it for money but like any other cult there are quite a few that are true believers. IMO we should invite some Norwegian Death Metal bands over to Kansas to visit the Westboro people for awhile.

The adults...maybe, but I doubt it. The children, on the other hand, are an entirely different beast; they speak with a conviction one only has from indoctrination at day 1.

The adults are fueled by booze, the children fueled by hate. It's a sad state of affairs.

I would actually piss away from them, mocking as I urinate on God's plants, giving them nutrition, while they burned.

We just had one of those nutjobs here, (the Quran burner Terry Jones) and the morons in the courts trampled all over his 1st right amendments. They arrested him before the protest, then held a hearing to determine if his protest would cause any issues, and deemed it would, halting his protest and forcing him to pay a "peace bond" (saying he won't be back for 3 years) in order to be released from custody.
