The 1.11.0 patch file for Blizzard's MMORPG, World of Warcraft (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com), is live now. Get it while it's fast (relatively speaking, of course).

You can get the Patch File (http://www.gamershell.com/news/30944.html) or view the ChangeLog (http://www.gamershell.com/infosheets/295694.html) at Gamer's Hell.

I'm getting it from fileplanet (http://www.fileplanet.com/files/150000/150253.shtml) myself. Filesize = 455 MB.

I didn't have issues with the Background downloader, so my WoW Patcher is doing okay with only 151megs to download.

I usually prefer FilePlanet too, but 455megs seemed not worth the wait if the Blizz patcher even half-works.

Care ?

I'm a member. That means fast downloads. Plus, while I have noticed that the blizzard background downloader has been running, my network security settings don't let it work that great. Security > Download Speeds.

I didn't make it a newspost for a reason.

They overhauled the Shaman and the Mage. Now I want to try it out, and I've been away for at least 2 months. GOD DAMN THEM!!!

I feel your frustration. I just managed to curb my addiction to this game about a week ago, but I have 2 main characters: a shaman and a mage. Now i have so much new stuff to check out I'll be right off the wagon again in no time (or is it back on the wagon).

If you already have 1.10 you only need to download the 150 meg patch not the whole 455 meg one.

I got it over at worthplaying, mirror 3 is the only one working for me. 30kbps :(
I'll have it in an hour as long as it doesn't start slowing down even more

Urrrg. I'm with GrinR. I just cancelled my account yesterday, just a few days before I would normally be billed, with no intent to go back for at least a few months. But now with mage changes I really wanna try it out. :\

I'll wait until after the RvR patch comes out after this one, then I'll renew, hopefully a Beta doesn't drop into my lap by then.

Next patch battlegrounds will be linked between small clusters of realms, with the intention of creating more BG activity. Supposedly the Honor system is being revamped too, but I've heard nothing but cryptic hints from community managers.

Fileplanet has the smaller patch as well: http://www.fileplanet.com/164755/160000/fileinfo/World-of-Warcraft-Patch-v1.10

Also, a lot of people pre-downloaded the patch while playing the past week or two, so you might not have to DL anything.

Even if you pre-downloaded, you still need to download about 50MB more to get the complete patch. They didn't let you download everything, just most of it.

yep thats it basiclly, I think there's letters on the Warhammer online forums. It was posted there becuase WO uses RvR as a main feature, you even ggain exp form it. So Realm Versus Realm is a chubby packer for me when it comes out.

I'm in the same boat. I haven't been playing that much of late but recently it keeps conflicting with my firewall... a firewall that I have disabled and isn't running.

Grr...

Woot on the Mage love though. I may finally get my main up to level 60... I've only been playing off and on for a year and a half :P

The 455meg patch is the patch for a fresh install. If you already have 1.10 just download the 151meg patch.. saves you a bit of time.

It literally took me less than 5 minutes to finish the download at around 11:30CST using the download method Blizz offers (for the remaining 17% that was left that is).

And instead of letting the blizzard background downloader run while I was playing I kicked it off manually after I was playing and let it pull the first 83% down a few weeks ago.

Mine just keeps hanging at 5% and telling me the tracker is down. Grr

I'm a little displeased by the Blizzard bittorrent background downloader. I understand the the DL would be a little slow, but their method of downloading 80% of the patch (probably the art) before recieving the full version about 3 weeks before the patch goes live is a pretty clever way of streamlining the process.

My complaint: The downloader doesn't seem to add the new "blocks" added to the file unless the downloader is restarted. So when i went to bed, with the downloader open, it was blind to the new portions that were added until i woke up this morning and WoW relaunched the updater.

Downloading at Filefront... Might go back for some cheap fun. You can get both the full patch and the 1.10->1.11 there (http://browse.files.filefront.com/World+of+Warcraft+Official+Patches+v1+11/;1650768;/browsefiles.html).

Basically a bit torrent client that launches simultaneously with your WoW client. The pre-release portions of the patch weeks before, and the clients basically copy files to each other. It works out pretty well, with broadband, it doesn't kill your ping, and when it comes to patch day, there's conceivebly a lot less blocks that need to be transfered when everyone wants the data immediately.

the problem i had with the background downloader it kept giving me 2000MS-2500MS latency in the middle of playing

Interesting to see that a bunch of you quit right before this patch came out. Well, I guess it's interesting to me since I just quit the other day as well (for the second time! :( ). Just wasn't having all that much fun with the game anymore I suppose.

Spigot

I probably would have quit a while ago but I pay in 6 month chunks and I know that every time I am ALMOST ready to give up on the game, I end up getting sucked back in (like I have over the weekend).

My playtime in WoW is dictated more by what other games I'm working on than WoW itself. I always enjoy playing WoW but will definately put it on the back burner if I have other singleplayer games vying for my time.

Spigot, I'm the same exact way, which is why I'm a bit worried the expansion may come out during the BUSY winter months. It'll probably be pushed back though.

I'm expecting the expansion to come out on time like I expected any previous Blizzard product to launch on time.

In other words, I'm not holding my breath :)

My friend wants me to start playing again, and I DID just get a job, so in theory I have the money.

I'm having a lot of trouble justifying paying 15 bucks a month for something that I paid 60 bucks for, that is updated extremely slowly.

This game makes about 2 billion a year or so. You're telling me that they can't update once a month and fix the godawful latency issues? How many cars- I mean servers do they need?

Spigot
06-21-2006, 01:43 PM
I have never really had bad lag, Ironforge aside, and even that has been fixed in recent patches (hello communal auction houses!)

I do agree that there needs to be a revamp to the pricing of MMO's initially. Paying $40-60 for the software and then another $15/month is a little ridiculous. I've disliked that initial cost since Asheron's Call and I still dislike it. At least EVE Online gives you the client for free and you just have to pay the monthly fees.

Zechs01

Thats the only thing i like about guildwars is it gave you free online service and there was no monthly charge
