It's good that if I take my kids to see Garfield I won't have to worry about anyone bothering us. ;)

Site note, I was watching Ghostbusters II on DVD this weekend, and did anyone else notice that in the animated show Peter Venkman (sp) who was Bill Murray in the movies is voiced by the same guy who voiced Garfield in the Garfield cartoons, only to have Bill voice Garfield in the live action Garfield movies, years later? I thought that was strange.

People wasted money on Nacho Libre? Hell I went to see the chick flick over that one.

Nacho Libre looked pretty funny to me, but I didn't see it either. It's a rental for sure.

It was pretty funny, had me laugh out loud quite a couple of times :) Then again, I think Jack Black is funny doing whatever....

If you liked Napoleon Dynamite, you would like Nacho Libra. I had a fun time watching it. And also Tokyo Drift was a lot better than expected, but I did not go in with any expectations and was happy with my money spent.

OMG... Maybe you have to watch the whole thing(Nacho). I saw good sizeable chunks and it didn't look hot at all.

Yeah, Nacho Libre hash been a bit of a puzzler. I loved Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre looks totally hilarious to me in the previews. I am going to go as soon as I get free time. But a lot of critics have been giving Nacho bad reviews. The funny thing is that I have noticed several that prefaced their review with the statement that they didn't really like or "get" Napoleon Dynamite. Since it is by the same guy then it doesn't bode well for their review of Nacho. I wonder why you have someone review a series of movies when they clearly don't understand or like the style of humor? It is already asserted that Napoleon was a huge commercial hit and very funny despite all the out-of-touch reviewers not understanding it.
It is kind of like when you read a video game review that starts with, "I really hate racing games, and this one is no exception." What kind of jackass hates a genre blindly and then tries to be a game reviewer? The even more important question is why do editors and magazine publishers and website maintainers hire these jackasses?
Part of the job is giving useful reviews that are for the people. You shouldn't be biased against a particular area or else your info will not be helpful to me in my decision of whether or not to view the media. The only thing critics should be biased against should be bad quality. They should appreciate well-done media in any genre if they are intelligent and well-rounded.

Heh, yeah, I noticed that when I heard that Bill Murray was cast for the first Garfield!

At the time, I thought it was going to be just about the best possible "replacement" for Lorenzo Music possible!

...

And then I saw the movie... and no one can replace Lorenzo.

I don't think there's anything about Napolean Dynomite to "get". I think it's a stupid movie that people took, quoted, and still, to this day, have not stopped.

That said, I HATE stupid movies with a passion. Zoolander is one of my least favorite movies of all time, and Anchorman ranks up there. I just think that kind of humor, while ok in small doses, is just mind numbingly dull in 2 hour chunks. Movies with intelligent humor, or movies that do things other than just really stupid people. That, and I have a problem with Ben Stiller. He just isnt funny.

That said, Jack Black is a funny guy, but I'm pretty sure Nach is going to annoy me as much as Napolean did, so I probably wont catch it.

I totally agree with you about Napolean Dynomite I tried to watch it, but I had a hard time just getting threw the first half. I heard it was awsome and I was hopping it was. I thought it was the worst movie I had seen in awhile. It wasn't funny at all.

I and most of my friends love Napoleon Dynamite. Several of my friends, though not myself, went to Nacho Libre and the best review from the several different groups that went was that it was stupid, but that they expected it to be stupid and therefore it was ok. A few of my friends walked out. Most of the complaints I've heard are an overreliance on bathroom humor. All the people that I know who saw it said there were at least a couple funny moments, but overall most said it was straight up horrible.

I, on the other hand, saw An Inconvenient Truth (Al Gore's global warming movie), and it's fantastic. Initially I thought it'd be mostly just information that I already knew with a couple new tidbits here and there, but that I would mostly just walk out revved up on the issue. Turns out that it's actually a decent movie as well, with several legitimately touching moments and other pretty amusing scenes as well. All in all, great stuff and everyone should go see it. Incidentally, it also has about the best group of trailers, at least where I saw it, that I've seen assembled in a long time. A documentary called "Who Killed The Electric Car", a movie about the NYT Crossword (Jon Stewart's in it and looks funny), and a movie about a guy stalking the members of the MPAA. I think there was something else in there, but I can't remember. Anyhow, go forth and see it!

Please, people, stop going to see The Break Up. For the sake of my sanity, I urge you. Go see Alone in the Dark at a dollar theater if you must go to the movies!

The gas fight scene in Zoolander is one of the all time funniest moments I've ever seen on screen.

First of all, HOW THE FUCK DID TOKYO DRIFT MAKE ANY MONEY AT ALL WHAT THE FUCK HOLY %&$^*& I AM MOVING TO ANTARCTICA!

Second, I think Napoleon Dynamite is a lot like Blair Witch Project in many ways. If you go in with expectations (particularly BIG expectations) you're going to be disappointed. If you think it's going to be like something else you've seen, you'll be disappointed. If you don't like movies that diverge substantially from the typical three-act narrative, you'll likely become bored, confused, or (oddly) insulted.

I watched ND after all my friends raved, and I knew it wasn't my type of movie so I took their raves with a massive mountain of salt. I ended up being forced to watch it and it won me over with it's simple, and I feel elegant, pacing. It's also infinitely quotable, which is a lot of fun.

"break the wrist, walk away..." = HILARIOUS!

You might want to check out www.rottentomatoes.com. The majority of critics reviews for Napoleon Dynamite were positive. So much for the "out-of-touch reviewers not understanding it"

That was absolutely hilarious. Funny thing is that my friends loved the movie, but weren't that big on that particular scene. While I though the overall movie was pretty weak, but that one scene was great.

My big beef is not with that particular movie. Rather, it's the stuped genre that it belongs to - that of substandard romcom cash-ins.

Wow rotten has Lake House as a bomb... When the two biggest reveiwers, Ebert and other guy gave it two thumbs. Even imdb is in it's favor. IMDB hates nacho and is close to worse movie ever. Maybe if it didn't star Jack Black but another goofy no name and filmed to a poorer quality.

You mean where everything follows the exact same formula of

1) Guy (or Girl) wants (or has) Guy or Girl
2) Some sort of decipt (possibly a bet or other strange "hook") is introduced.
3) After 65-75 min (depending on the length of the movie) the main character is as low as can be, usually because 2) (above) blew up in his (or her) face.
4) It all works out in the end, as Guy and Girl get back together or otherwise find piece.

Yeah, I can't imagine why you wouldn't like that sort of movie. My wife and I roll our eyes at the hour mark when number 3 happens, it's all so freaking predictable. I can't believe romantic comedies continue to make money, using the exact same forumla. It's freaking weird.

That being said, The Break-Up really didn't follow that formula too much, and I liked it because Vince Vaugn usually said the dumb things in his relationship I've said in mine. I think men will like this movie more, being able to relate to Vaughn's character, than anything. Maybe that's why my wife didn't like it, in fact?

I went and saw Nacho Libre on the weekend. It is a really funny movie. You would have to like Napoleon Dynomite to like Nacho Libre.

And if you saw Tokyo Drift, I hate you. When one of the lines of the movie is 'If you ain't outa control you ain't in control' you know it sucks.

This has to be one of the worst Top 10s of all time, and that's saying something. There is just a huge amount of shit out right now. I'm really glad that Nacho Libre and The Break Up are finally out though. I was sick to death of the ads for both of those. They've been showing the trailer for The Break Up since last year - ridiculous!

Between those two, The Fast and the Furious 3, and Garfield 2....that much suck has to have opened a black hole somewhere.

Keanu: "I bought a house. On the lake."

After that line, I just couldn't stop laughing.

Man he didn't even sound as stiff in this movie, with his question/statements(his normal flat delivery of questions). Ummm but the scenes of him just reading. :( Those did feel like someone back in middle school reading, maybe high school with out the stuttering.
