Add the ZOTAC GTX 580 AMP2 (http://www.zotacusa.com/forum/topic/4460-zotac-introduces-geforce-gtx-580-amp-edition/) to the list of hardware I want to buy:

HONG KONG – Apr. 6 , 2011 – ZOTAC® International, a leading innovator and the world’s largest channel manufacturer, today introduces the ZOTAC® GeForce® GTX 580 AMP2!™ Edition – its fastest single-GPU graphics card. The ZOTAC® GeForce® GTX 580 AMP2!™ Edition is designed to amplify cooling performance and gaming at extreme high-definition resolutions.

A custom high-performance heat-pipe heatsink enables the ZOTAC® GeForce® GTX 580 AMP2!™ Edition to stay cool and whisper-quiet while dual orange 92mm fans add a stylish ZOTAC® touch to create an enthusiast-grade graphics card that combines performance and style in a single 2.5-slot graphics card.

The ZOTAC® GeForce® GTX 580 AMP2!™ Edition boosts gaming performance by doubling the video memory of standard ZOTAC® GeForce® GTX 580 graphics card for a total of 3GB of video memory. The 3GB of video memory ensures the ZOTAC® GeForce® GTX 580 AMP2!™ Edition is able to render the latest Microsoft® DirectX® 11-enabled games and applications with maximum details and performance at resolutions up to 2560x1600.

“Enthusiast gamers demand the absolute best performance available. With the ZOTAC® GeForce® GTX 580 AMP2!™ Edition, we are able to boost high-resolution gaming performance while reducing noise levels and temperatures,” said Carsten Berger, marketing director, ZOTAC® International.

To let users take advantage of the graphics processing power available from the ZOTAC® GeForce® GTX 580 AMP2!™ Edition, a copy of Assassin’s Creed®: Brotherhood is bundled with the card. Brotherhood takes gamers on an epic action-packed journey through a beautifully rendered replication of ancient Rome, Italy as Ezio, the master assassin.

It’s time to play with the ZOTAC® GeForce® GTX 580 AMP2!™ Edition!

That card is nearly more powerful than my home PC (I'm exaggerating a bit, but I only have 2 GB of ram!)

lol those things cost over a grand. The one nice thing about the card is both the 480 and 580 chip sets are as premium as it gets for those series with EVERY single core unlocked stock.

Isn't the 580 actually two 570's on one card? I recall something about that, but not going to go do research. It's up against AMD's 6990, which is itself two 6970's on one card.

Two fastest cards in the world rn.

I'm not feeling these high end graphics cards nearly as much as I did about 8 years ago, mainly because they just don't make games that push even middle of the road hardware anymore. Playing a new game run on a $150.00 card and on a $1100.00 card is exactly the same. The FPS boost may be huge, like 80-130, but who can see the difference? Its pretty depressing really.

My god that's just wrong, you can put this thing in a 3-way SLI >_>

You'd need a power supply with at least 1.21 jigawatts :P

For me it's more about future proofing. This thing will still run top of the line games 5 years from now easily.

I used to buy the high end cards too. I was always looking for better frame rates back then too. I have a GTX 470 now and everything I throw at it runs great.
I still want the ZOTAC GTX 580 AMP2 Edition 3GB. Willing to pay for is another matter.

Something like this is for a person that has a very high res monitor and wants to run locked at 100Hz.

Too true.

UNLESS you want to game on absurdly stupid resolutions using 3D while running 10 monitors of other shit simultaneously. Or want to use ATI Eyefinity with a bunch of high res monitors.

At Full HD resolutions (the norm) even 150 cards can pull most (if not all) games at MAX settings.

My fear with that is we don't know when the next consoles are coming out, and we don't know what tech they will be using.

In 2 years we may get the PS4 and Xbox3 and finally get some graphically demanding games released, but when it happens all the new games may very well require Direct-X 12, which my 6950 doesn't support. I still love having high end PC components, buts its just not a requirement anymore. My hope at this point is that my current system obliterates everything up until the release of the next generation of consoles, at which time I'm prepared to upgrade only my graphics card(if a 17 2600k cant hack it I'm in trouble).

I don't get that picture at all... I really need to catch up on this pokemon bullshit, everyone seems to really like it and I wrote it off as a kids game in like 1999.

... Remember 1999? That was the year that 'Escape From New York' was supposed to take place. I loved that movie. I wonder what Kurt Russel is up to now?

Ohhh, neat, hes in a movie version of the Waco standoff. Man, that was fucked up, wasn't it? Lets talk about that.

Red is the guy in the first PKMN game/manga. Ash is the hack from the kiddie show. (I saw the 10th episode some forest thing...it was CRAP) Stay away from everything PKMN except for the core games. Or not, I don't care. Derail.
