Call of Juarez is situated in 19th-century Wild West America and requires a combination of both intelligent stealth and pure shooting. Fast-paced revolver duels using historically accurate firearms, horseback riding, and memorable locations combine with top-notch graphics and an enthralling soundtrack to immerse both casual and hardcore players.
Billy is a rebel and brawler, who accused of murder escapes the judgment. Pastor Ray, ex-gunslinger, abandons his church and promises to inflict justice – with bullets if he has to – on Billy and any other bandits that dare to step in his way. During the game you’ll have to make split-second decisions to successfully elude Ray as Billy, or to hunt down Billy as you play as Ray.Check 12 new Call of Juarez screens (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=34886) over at WorthPlaying.
Say what you will, I'm liking it!

Graphics looks incredible. Too bad the Wil West-theme doesn't appeal to me. I'll try the demo though, perhaps the gameplay makes up for it.

Looks a lot like Oblivion. Is this the same engine?

I absolutely hate the plastic look of the characters. The same problem is in other next-generation games as well - namely that 360 game with the dude and his sunglasses that was cancelled. It looks like they all had 20 plastic surgeries. It freaks me out. Seriously.
I think it looks freaking amazing. The setting is somewhat interesting as well. We'll see if they pull it off.

Agreed. The artists have to calm down with their new tools and learn some subtlety. Every game is starting to look like this recently. I like to call this the "EQII-effect". Lots of technology with no artistry.

Looks pretty good. I like the use of depth of field effects.

its by the same people who did "Chrome", if im not mistaken, and uses a highly advanced/updated version of that same engine. chrome was sub-par at best, but this game sounds fairly promising...

Like The_Darr said, Techland also made the barely mediocre Chrome, but they seem to have gotten their act together since.
Call of Juarez, published by Ubisoft, also uses physics a lot, much in the same vein as Half-Life 2, puzzles that you must solve to clear the way or bypass obstacles. Fire spreads/travels on its own as it comes near other flammable objects, and the fire effect looks pretty amazing as well.
Agreed on the plastic looking faces though, less shine would be good...

First modern, serious FPS set in The Wild West.
Are you trying to tell me Outlaws wasn't serious!?

I'm so psyched about this game it's not even funny. The 2-level tech built I got to play with for my preview (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=32086) was killer!

Yeah, it has the Look of the current Engine technology.
Models that are still obviously models, but with much better lighting.
Makes things look like plastic toys.
There's a few weird screenshots of a number of cowboys in identical clothing, but different heads. Reinforced that feeling of plastic dolls.

I am in contact with the Dev's, and I can promise anyone, it'll rock. People over at the Gamespot forums all had their input in the MP (admittedly mainly me) , and now Techland, have created what sounds to be one of the best MP's in ages. I cannot wait for this game, it looks so good, and it actually must be next gen, just look at the graphics :D !!!
And, I think with the pasticyness (good word eh?), not many games have better unplasticyness than this. It looks great if you ask me. Lets wait till we see screenshots of the Night Missions, maybe it's just the suns glare that gives that impression. I don't really want to act so aclm, I want to say you'er wrong, becuase it looks fnaatstic to me. But I will take in your points, and duely listen.
