We've got another very special Evil Avatar Radio update for you guys this week. Our June edition of our special Evil Avatar Roundtable was recorded last night, and we got the audio ready nice and quick! For this month's roundtable, I was joined by agentgray, bapenguin, mightbe, Iron Weasel, and Luke of the Game Addict Hotline (http://www.gameaddicthotline.com) podcast. Our topic for this month's roundtable is the new generation of consoles that has been kicked off by the Microsoft Xbox 360 and will continue even strong with the upcoming Nintendo Wii and Sony Playstation 3. Give it a listen! (http://www.evilavatarradio.com/audio/EAR.roundtable.nextgen.mp3)
Reminder: Episode 17 of the Evil Avatar Radio podcast will be streamed LIVE tomorrow, June 16th, 2006. Among other things, this one is going to have a SPECIAL GUEST CO-HOST! Be ready to tune in, and check us out right here tomorrow on Evil Avatar's front page for details on how to listen and call in. Can't be there to tune in live but want to have your voice heard? Send an e-mail to evilavatarnews@gmail.com and we'll read it live on-air!

CooL! Nice job.
My personal take on all this:
PS3: Krazy Ken aside, it'll be a success, but with a huge price tag and stiffer competition from MS and Nintendo it won't dominate like the PS2 did. In fact if Blu-Ray ends up losing the PS3 could end up losing the top position. Another concern is the massive devolopment and production costs of the PS3. Even if the PS3 sells well, Sony might not end up breaking even.
360: Its going to sell more than the first X-Box, but by how much is uncertain. Depending on how well a job Sony can do marketing the PS3, it might end up with top spot in this generation of consoles. Its by far the most traditional console, and again promises of Krazy Ken about Sonys online service aside, it has the best online service available.
Wii: Nintendo is taking a risk here, but at least in terms of anticipation of the console its even bigger than the PS3. With the lowest price tag, low devolopment costs, and a great marketing campaign already on a roll Nintendo has a chance to make the PS2s sales numbers look paltry. This all depends on if the new motion sensing controllers work out, if they don't Nintendo may end up going down Segas road.

Phil's mom would be an interesting co-host, but I don't think she'd say too much. She doesn't know much about video games (it seems) outside of Bejeweled and Mah-Jongg.
And oh yeah, for those who aren't big fans of me, you'll enjoy this week's show, as I won't be around. Stupid high school reunion/hometown festival crap. Blargh.

I eagerly await getting home from work so I can listen to this. You guys had to have the roundtable on the week where I'm working evenings, didn't you? I know you don't want me particpating anymore, even though it's The Right Thing To Do!

Whoever did:
"He said into Tim Schafer, heh."
You made me spray my drink out of my nose. Thanks for the cheap laugh.

Spigot man, it was the same problem with me. Only one week out of five in my schedule and Phil picks this one to do it in the evening. ;) And lo and behold, I'm off Friday. So at least I'll be able to call into the show tomorrow.

I just hit the part where you guys referenced me. Hi-larious, aside from the fact that you guys are assholes. I didn't want to play Uno with you anyway ;).
Great podcast all, good to hear your thoughts voiced out loud on the next gen.

Haha, hilarious stuff guys. Harangued not once but twice? I'm humbled! So humbled I need to toss a few extra grenades next week ;). The crack about Pumped'Up was GOLDEN.
Keep up the great work!

Nice job, guys! And Nick, of course you're qualified to talk about videogames. Your achievement score is testament to that!
PS - Can I be on the next one if I promise to teach y'all some fine Scottish colloquialisms? :p

Not a problem, random! Had to pimp our GRAW tuesday nights somehow.
I for one put the stamp on bootsy for the next roundtable. He's gotta wear a kilt while he talks though.
"He said into Tim Schafer, heh."
Glad to be of service. I sometimes can't shut off my internal monolouge.
HINT: If ya didn't listen to the last 1:00 minute of the podcast, you might be missing something.

I'm downloading the podcast onto my computer, putting it onto my iPod, plugging my iPod into my XBox360 and going to stream the show while playing Table Tennis. That's why I'm qualified.

You and me both. We'll have to call in and give him a double dose of Canadian Politeness, Eh-Style.
Or shall we call ourselves... The Eh Team?

The guys at XBL radio (http://www.xblradio.com) are always looking for people in the Xbox 360 community to talk games. You should check out there show and see if you can get on. It's the Live on Live show with Rusty Ranchero and Steve519.

I've heard talk of it. I'll give it a listen. I'm wary, though, of listening to and/or participating in a single-console focused show. We'll see. :)
