Well, I'm looking forward to it more than that PoS called DNF.

Waiting on some reviews, but it does release without much competition from other games around that time, so it could be a pretty big hit if it is halfway decent.

I am, strangly enough.
I am not a huge FPS guy, in fact I am one of those fuckers who usually sees FPS as a tired and played genre. This has me interested though. Maybe because I have been watching it for close to 7 years. Don't know really, but I am looking foward to it.

I'll give it a rent on the 360 for sure.

I dunno what to think of this game. Looks like a bit too much of a mish-mash to me. We'll see. I may have to gamefly it first.

Ahhh, a FPS where you can shoot through portals(/teleporters, in other games)! Oh the fun this could cause in multiplayer!

I'm 50/50 on this one. Resurrecting old franchises (or titles) doesn't always work - see SiN: Episodes.

This has been pretty common since... Duke Nukem 3D actually. I remember throwing pipe bombs through a teleporter at a buddy. Quake 3 Arena also featured it rather prominently as well, doing just what Prey is doing where you could actually see what was going on, on the otherside of the teleporter, as well as fire your weapons through it.

Strangely enough. I was looking forward to this, until I saw a video of gameplay.

this game looks better and better. can't wait to play it.
this indian-thing reminds of TUROK - which is also coming to the 360 :-)
Oddly enough, I was dissinterested in this, since there's SO MANY TIRED ASS FPS's with LITTLE TO NO imagination, whatsoever...
This one actually looks like its got something going for it, so unless the reviews absolutely crush it, I'll probably pick it up.
And as for "that POS DNF", don't you think the hate's getting just about as old as hearing about a release date for Duke Nukem? Seriously, how do you know it sucks? Hell... I don't even really believe it exists and consider it an urban myth. It's also one of those fading urban myths, like "cats sit on your chest when you're sleep and steal your soul". Another few years and nobody will no what you're talking about and you'll just be bitter... :p

I'll give this a rent. I like the whole 'walking on walls' thing. It makes the whole game topsy-turvy like the Descent series was. :D
Mmmmm. Descent.

I'm hopeful, but will likely wait for reviews. There's not a lot else happening this summer, so it might get a buy simply because there's not much else competing for my gaming dollars. I didn't like the main character's talking and swearing in the movie awhile back. It wasn't interesting and broke the immersion for me.

And now the hater hates. ;)
I'd definitely say that the SiN: Episodes far surpases the original title in all respects, it's good to see a series moving forward.

I think you're overanalyzing things. That'd assume I actually think about DNF, which I don't. Only today's posts brought it up. Another few years and DNF will probably just be coming out, and no person under the age of 20 will remember the original. ;)

From an interview on VE3D.
How does it scale on different hardware?
GB-I can play Prey on a 1900xtx, AMD 4400+ at 1600x1200 with all the features on.
We have people at the office play and finish it on as low as a 2.5ghz, 9800, and even one on a 2.0Ghz/9700Pro. So, the game scales pretty well.
Clearly there is a midrange, probably starting aroung 2.8Ghz and a 9800. Higher end video cards will make the game scream.

Sorry, but no. Q3 was one of the first games that made it so you could see what was on the other side of a portal, but the portal itself was non-interactive. Shooting at them had no effect. Prey is the first game I can come up with where it seems like this isn't just a "feature" but an actual gameplay mechanic.

My bad, Q4 however does let you shoot through the teleporters.

Anybody looking forward to this? The latest videos of it look pretty good.I am and have it on preorder at the local EB. I feel the game is looking good as well and I'm ready for a FPS like this on 360.
I think the adaptive difficulty system will turn out to be good idea since it'll help you keep going through the game story ( looks like there might actually be one ) since you won't have any one AI creature spanking your ass over and over again. On the flipside, you won't get bored beating the easier creatures because they'll also adjust to your skill level.
I don't know if it'll even matter yet but I wish they didn't limit multiplayer to only 8 players. I haven't read anything as to why that limit was chosen but I'm guessing it has its roots in the id Software technology and overall game design choices for best performance...duh right.
I'm stoked that they feel the achievements should be obtainable by most people and that there should be quite a few from what I've heard. If you're spending time looking up a "how to...?" online then I don't think the choices made by the developer / publisher were all that well thought out - just my opinion. I want to have fun, be rewarded, join friends easily and not worry about grinding out something to feed my new and improved achievement addicition ( damn you Xbox wizards at Microsoft ) :)
I think all in all Prey is looking like a quality purchase.

I just can't get excited about this. I love FPSs but the Doom 3 engine just doesn't feel right to me. I found Doom 3 and Quake 4 mildly entertaining so I will probably just borrow this from my friend when he is done. (He buys everything :) )

AI scalling never really works all that well. They have been doing it for a while now and I say the best execution was in Max Payne.
I agree that it is Doom 3 engine, which has yet to really impress outside of high fidelity graphics, but I think this could be the first great Doom 3 engine game.

I'm a bit concerned with the disorienting nature of all the portals and gravity-defying wall climbing in the game; from the trailer I watched, I about puked.
It does have a ton of promise, though!!!

I seem to remember prey's use of the term portal meant quite a bit more than just interactivity of weapons from one side to another, but that was a long time ago.

I like the whole 'walking on walls' thing.
Me too, I got tired of FPSs after they all became hyper-realistic slodier simulators. Walking on walls, and the old "small moon gravity" demo make me pretty interested.
hehe. It's getting silly with the DNF hate. It's beyond reason now and so obviously about something different (angst? vagina envy?!) than the actual game. People assume the game is crap, with so little information on their hands. Just wait a few weeks and Bush will invade and claim 3Drealms had weapons of mass destruction.
has anyone realised that those pictures are 2mb each?
